Hello, I have a few questions to throw out here to you PT fans. I have been looking for a good convertible and have a reservation/order for a 2007 GT Cruiser Convertible through military car sales dealer. Originally I was thinking black w/the black top and slate gray interior but then changed my mind to go with silver. Anyone own either color. As a guy, I liked the way the black made the car looked more macho and least girly in photos (but there aren't many out there). Sorry if that offends anyone. I'm afraid it would look dirty all the time especially since I'm moving to England soon where it rains often. Is the black paint a good quality or is the silver the better of the two? It is also getting Ziebart coating (part of the deal). I have seen some newer cars where their black is terrible. Also, in reference to the girly thing, I want to hear from some guys (and gals that might be out there) about the convertible. I am living in Seoul for a year and prior to that in Cheyenne WY, so I haven't seen one convertible yet. Seen plenty of 2005 PTs though. Please let me know what you think of the colors and convertible in general. I love the photos, specs, turbo, smaller size (for England roads), yet plenty of room for four. That's basically the jist why I'm shopping for the pt. One more thing, are there a lot of blindspots? Will be driving on opposite side of road. GT version not sold in England... Thanks in advance... --D ----------

My wife and I have an 05 purple LO turbo TE ragtop. I don't know about it being a girlie color because I've always liked purple. It is the color of royalty. The car has been fun and reliable, and I wasn't a convertible person prior to owning it. Where you live has a lot to do with what color you chose. If you get black and live in England, you'll be cleaning it nonstop. Black looks great when it's clean, but when it's just a little dirty it looks awful. The silver will hide the dirt. As far as blind spots go, yes, there are a couple of blind spots in the back with the top up. But you get used to where they are, and when the top is down, they seem to disappear. Don't worry be happy. ----------

In my opinion, you can't go wrong with the basics! Red, black and silver all look nice on the vert. I have an '05 vert in silver with a black top. I get a lot of "Nice car!", "I like your car!", "Cool car!" comments when filling up at the gas station or going through a restaurant drive through. (Never got that with my silver Olds 88)! I think the PT strikes a nice balance between being a guys and a womans car. (I am a guy, btw). Go for the turbo! It's a blast to drive, and there are tons of performance items you can get for it. Slap on a dual performance exhaust and Stage 1 PCM upgrade. Then if anyone smirks at your car you can leave them in a cloud of turbo powered tire smoke. ---------- "You can fool some of the people all of the time." ...and thanks to the presidential approval polls we even know the exact percentage.

Thanks, appreciate that. My wife said she likes the purple a lot. I have to admit it looks nice, but its not me. Yeah, the black looks cool and the silver looks almost plastic to me, but I also hate how you almost never see one clean, unless it has just been washed. I never drove a convertible myself. When I take my late midtour back home at the end of the month, I will finally get to test drive one. I have a feeling I'll like it. I just know I will enjoy the open air, kind of like a bike. My wife loves the car but she says she won't ride with the top down. Anyone got any suggestions to fix that? ----------

Oh yeah. I tell her to put it in a pony tail, it won't be so bad... Dadada. Course she can cut it all off. Maybe she thinks its more than that. Maybe she thinks her face will be shaped by the wind sort of like those G-Force rides they put pilots through. Or she will get pooped on by a bird or hit by a flying golf ball when going past a golf course. Maybe she's afraid of being noticed. Maybe I can tie her up each time and one day let her loose all the while playing her favorite 80s music one day and by that time she'll sympathize with her captor and one day won't even think twice about it. Easier to leave her at home. ----------

It was a beautiful sunny 70 degree day today so I dropped the top but left the windows up. I had forgotten about that option, but it really cuts down the wind inside the cabin. It's almost like having just a huge sunroof! Give that a try and I'll bet she won't mind it at all. :) ---------- "You can fool some of the people all of the time." ...and thanks to the presidential approval polls we even know the exact percentage.

I probably would have gotten black except that we already have a black Mercury Mountaineer, they are harder to keep clean, and when the top's down in the summer a black convertible seems to get much hotter than lighter colors. I can't seem to see myself in a "color" car, so I have had only black, silver or white cars for years. My PT is one order (due in the first week of May), and it will be silver. ----------

Cool. I can't wait till I get mine. Of course I have no idea what the 07s will look like. Its going to be delivered to me in October. First time I ever purchased a new car. Hope it will be worth it, car payments and all. Yeah you can generally see swirls in the black paint and silver seems to be the best choice. I plan on keeping it very clean anyhow. Which PT are you getting? ----------

The car is great. I have a vanilla vert, I wanted the antique looking color to match the old fell of this car. More of a nostalgic look. One thing I always see are silver PT's be they verts or coupes. Black is awesome, as is the inferno reds. Yeah, I think I'll like it either way. Black looks awesome, but I fear what the quality of paint is like. Some expensive cars still have bad paint (many American). Looking at the black paint up close, what is the quality like. Can't you see the swirls in the paint? I love the look, I would probably keep it clean if I had one all the time. But right now, my order is for a silver one. I won't be seeing the car till October, when I get to England. Now that vanilla car looks nice. It looks like yours has blank interior. I have seen others with a light gray or white interior. Looks nice either way. What is the quality of the vanilla (visually) and does the dirt show as easily as you'd imagine? It will be raining a lot. I want the most macho and retro of the colors personally (black in my opinion), but can't go for any of the 06 reds, blues, or that greenish gray one. I guess with the smallish car and the wind bar, it looks the convertible looks a little too cute, but I like the practicality for England and fun factor of convertible. I say practicle cause it is small, and roomy enough for four comfortably, quick, ect. All things are important to me as I prepare for the traffic in England. Hopefully the blind spots won't get me killed. Some folks on the forum have said things about the blindspots... That's a little concerning, but I think my excitement over the car as a whole and to actually have a car with Turbo and performance under the hood. I think it'll be a nice change from my newest car ever owned (99 Dodge Stratus V4). Still a nice car, but not the same. ----------

Hello there, greetings from the Florida panhandle. Here is the female point of view. I LOVE MY RAGTOP!! If your wife is worried about mussing up her hair, tell her to buy a nice big floppy straw hat, a must in the hot Florida sun, and enjoy the ride! I love to put my top down at night and enjoy the moonlight ride. Most of the time it is too hot for me during the day to have the top down, not to mention the sunburns, lol. She can ride in the dark with no hat, no ponytail and nobody will care. She will grow to love it! I have an electric blue myself and I love the color! Welcome to the PT Club, join us in chat sometime. BlueHaze PS, my dad was in the AF and we spent a year in England ourselves. He was stationed there when he met my mother, who is from Scotland. Britian is a very beautiful country, enjoy the sights!! ---------- Life is just one long Cruise! Why not enjoy it in a PT!

Hi, We have an 06 Marrine Blue with a black top. I put on the chrome Bazel a couple of days ago and I also put on a set of 18 inch wheels with BFGoodfich tires. They are 235/40/18. It geta a lot of looks. It's the basic model ,automatic. But it has most of the things that the Silver Eagle has only it doesn't have cruise or the power drivers seat.. Real good on Gas. The Silver Eagle is an 01 very early edition. It only has 36,000 it now. ---------- big jim

We have a black 05 GT, with the taupe / tan top and interior combo. I like the combo as it's not as hot as an all-black combo would be. The car is actually my wife's daily driver, we joke that she bought the convertible and I bought the GT portion. Since the photo below was taken I've painted the calipers red, which really stands out well with the chrome 5-spoke wheels. You can see in the photo we were driving with the side glass up that day, with that combo and the rear windscreen which we also have recently added, we're good for top-down driving anytime it's sunny and 55 degrees or better. Driving in England, yes, there would be a huge blind spot in the right rear quarter of the convertible, if it top's up. Otherwise, none. ----------

I have a 2005 Turbo GT HO bright silver with black roof. I like the color because it does not such near as much dust anddirt as my two other cars which are black. Black looks great but needs alot of frequent waxing to keep the swirls out. ----------

Yeah my car has a black cloth interior, afraid of leather bruning my "bum" as they say accross the ocean so I went with the cloth. The nilla's come with a -taupe-interior as well with the leather. Never saw a cloth taupe though. The top can also be a taupe. The qulaity of the paint is rather good. I just waxed her today and noticed the hood had some swirls in the paint, however the sides, rear and fender shine like mirrors! Also cught one minor flaw in the paint, a lil bur melted under the coating...very odd. I used Meguirs wax which stated it removed paint swirls...well it didn't. I am gonna try a different product to see if that works it out. As far as dirt, in NJ we get all kinds of weather...and I drive the nilla vert in every kind of weather as well. I find if you just give it a good wiping every now and then all is ok...the dirt really gathers on the top lip of the rear bumper and in the indentations of the lower doors where the fender and the doors meet. But hey, my car is meant to be driven not looked at...I hose her down every 2 weeks and all is ok. Silver is perhaps your best bet for avoiding the need to clean her up a lot, just my last 3 cars were all SILVER!@ Cheers ---------- 2005 Touring Edition Convertible Turbo 2.4L LITE Automatic, cool vanilla, faux Street Edition badging, K&N drop in filter, modded airbox, mini-chrome side flames, chrome gas cap cover, customized rear mud flaps, flying siberian husky fur when top dropped.

As a Brit who moved the other way (to Houston), I can tell you that the Vert in Britain is a different spec (apart from the steering wheel on the right side ). Best to go here and ask my friendly old club http://www.ukcruisers.net in the forums (and join when you get there!). As far as the macho bit goes, why not get something in between black & silver like mine - Graphite ?

I just recently bought an 05 Turbo Convertible. I have the purple. I am a guy also. This is my car. I agree, I don't know that I've seen any bad colors on the PT Vert. I had mine in this morning to get the oil changed and it drew a lot of raves!! Everywhere I go, I get comments. I pamper mine, so mine is always clean, and it is a beautiful car!! You know some days in Oklahoma it is stinkin hot!! On some days I just run with the top up and windows down. So that may help your wife. The thing I like about the PT Vert. is it looks just as cool with the top up, it has that retro roadster look bigtime. Good luck and you will love the turbo, I have the auto stick option and it is fun to play with. mrmo63 ----------
