Hello everybody I just purchased a 2008 PT Cruiser Sunset Blvd Edition. I am told production of this car was limited to 500 (is that anything special?) are all the special edition models limited production like that? Also a huge selling point I wasn't even aware of was the new lifetime warranty on the engine, transmission and drive system. That seems to good to be true and for an extra $1800 you can get lifetime warranty that covers all mechanical parts. The only limitation is that you have to be the original owner. Sad to hear this is it for the PT but sure glad I got one! Excited to be a part of this group! Thanks Erik ---------- 2008 PT Cruiser Sunset Boulevard Edition (One of only 500 made) Paint Color: Sunset Crystal Pearl

Welcome and a very big congratulations to you for your purchase. The Sunset Boulevard is probably the most limited production of all the Dream Cruiser and Street Cruiser series. The Dream and Street cruiser edition PT's are limited productions and usually have all or different options than the other PT's. From what I have seen in the pictures, the SBE looks very sharp. You will find the people here friendly and informative.

Hi Erik and welcome to the PTCC from Mike and Ginny Casabianca of Yonkers NY.This edition seems to be the most limited in terms of #'s to be made but that is if Chrysler keeps its word.Let us say that lately the Company doesn't have the best track record with case in point being Tangerine as a exclusive color to the Dream Series 2.That 1800 dollars for a lifetime warrantee on all mechanical parts seems like a excellent buy that will pay for itself during a lifetime of ownership. We all got together for our common love of the car but you will soon learn that you have joined a family of some really great people. All the best and God Bless......Mike ---------- Mike Casabianca His: 2001 Black LE with Auto Transmission, BullDog Signs Flames, WeatherTec wind deflectors, cargo area mat, PT trash can, PT valve stem caps and Dart's coldair intake, chrome tail and headlight bezels, chrome bumper inserts, chrome license plate pillow, chrome fender trim, 1940's retro chrome on front and back fenders, door spears, chrome hatch door trim, chrome gas door, brushed chrome door sills, billet door pins, custom "BlueHaze" dash mat, MRK Group lugnut covers, dome light trim, etc. and the chrome goes on...... Hers: 2003 Patriot Blue Woody with Automatic Transmission, Bulldog Signs Eeyore, Cargo area mat, WeatherTec wind deflectors, PT valve stem caps, PT trash can, "BlueHaze" custom dash mat, and chrome tailpipe extension, "Old School" wood shifter knob, wood and chrome door pins, MRK Group interior knob and switch covers, door surrounds, and dome light trim, chrome door surround trim, white eeyore window decals, smoothie hub cap, wood eeyore plaques ....and the Wood goes on http://community.webshots.com/user/mdcvmvc

This year, the exterior color is “Sunset Crystal Pearl.” I’d describe it as a bronze-orange metallic color with amazing sparkle. In years past, Chrysler did Solar Yellow and Ocean Blue. For 2008, Chrysler wanted to do something different The Bronze and Orange colors are a very fast-growing trend in consumer electronics, architecture and fashion. It was a natural to adapt it for the 2008 Chrysler PT Street Cruiser. Chrysler chose to name the color Sunset Crystal because it also evokes a special emotional connection to cruising. This is a really warm “feeling” color, and a lot of people cruise in the early evenings as the sun is setting. “Crystal” refers to the effect pigment in the paint that makes the color sparkle across the PT Cruiser’s surface. So the name is very descriptive—and has a pretty nice ring to it, as well. Something we hope the customer will remember, love and have to have! Chrysler is limiting production of this special edition to just 500 units for the 2008 model year. ---------- http://community.webshots.com/user/davidrs100

The color is incredible; I purchased the car just off the truck from CarMax at LAX. I had my best car buying experience yet. It's interesting how different the color of this car looks in pictures versus in person; it's quite a sight to see. The car looked much better than I expected in person at the dealership, the factory rebates combined with an additional 7 hour dealer promotion got me a great price then to learn it comes with a Lifetime Powertrain Warranty - makes me think about buying another. Anybody know if it's possible to determine which number out of 500 I have? Erik ---------- 2008 PT Cruiser Sunset Boulevard Edition (One of only 500 made) Paint Color: Sunset Crystal Pearl

I have the 2007 Street Series Pacific Coast Highway Edition (the Edition before yours). I recently e-mailed Chrysler, as I was told by someone with a Route 66 Edition that Chrysler e-mailed them the total number made, and the number of their particular car. Alas, my own e-mail from Chrysler came back saying it was "propriety information," that they don't give that out to consumers. Sigh. I would love to know how many Pacific Coast Highway Editions they made. Congratulations on your purchase. I just love the little patch that is on the Sunset Boulevard Edition. ----------

When I was shopping for my car I called Carmax and told them what I wanted and the salesman gave me a good quote. I called a Chrysler dealer in Ontario and talked to the fleet manager and after a little back and forth dealing he gave me an even better quote so I ended up getting it from Ontario Jeep Chrysler. In a year or two we will be replacing my wife's Chrysler 300M and I do plan on contacting Carmax again. I would like to see the color of your Cruiser in person. I don't think a picture does it justice. From the picture it looks like a dark inferno red. Enjoy your new ride. Charlie ----------

Thanks for that info. I e-mailed Chrysler we'll see what happens, I'll post their response. I don't know why they would consider it proprietery information... I also don't know why I really want to know or what difference it makes what number it is but I sure am curious. Thanks to all! Yes it does look red in pictures and in person in looks more like a copperish color, it's really cool! That's great that you could haggle a better deal, I'm not a haggler I can't stand salesman games so for that I love CarMax's no haggle price but if there's money to be saved my hats off to you. I like the color. I don't enjoying the hassle of buying a car but I have excepted the fact it is part of buying it. I have not been to any of the meet and greets in my area. It seems I am doing other things when they have them. One of these days my wife and I will make it to one of them. Charlie ----------

My mind keeps thinking of all the cool things you could have in your tailgate display at shows. Like Gloria Swanson posters from the movie Sunset Boulevard and other memorabilia from that era. Or the TV show 77 Sunset Strip. All kinds of different things that would tie in with the Sunset Boulevard edition. ----------
