I think they have the terminals on the opposite sides as do the original batteries and so probably won't fit.

Re: [P B Cruiser] Optima Battery?? Can't Post

WaveOk now heres the scoop on the Optima Battery. I have had an Optima in my car from day one!!I run a lot of Neon Lights as well as other stuff!! The Terminals ARE correct sides!! I have the RED Top P/N 8004-003 Model # 34/78 Plenty of battery for a PT!! They stand on their Warranty and is a Straight across trade if in time period. There is a Yellow Top, more juice but more $$s
I have a Optima in my 52 Chevy and it is a 6 Volt.It holds up better than a reg 6 Volt Battery and is 1/3 the size and weight of standard.I have one in my 59 Ford also.I have had one in a boat when I had it also.
Just information I thought I'd pass on LOL

Re: [P B Cruiser] Optima Battery?? Can't Post

I dont have an Optima in my PT yet. I am waiting for the generic battery in it to die first but when it does I will be putting in a red top Optima. I have had a red top in my Jeep CJ for about 10 years and I just replaced it with another one. It finally died. It frequently got run down to almost dead from using the winch on the front and always charged back up and worked fine. Optimas are completely sealed so they can be mounted in any position and wont leak, the stand up to vibration much better than a standard battery which makes them ideal for an off road vehicle. The yellow tops are a deep cycle battery. Thats good if you run a big stereo with the car off for long periods of time, other wise it is really a waste in a stock daily driver PT. The service life is longer than a regular battery too. I recently bought one from Costco for my Jeep. A day latter I was in Pep Boys and saw it cheaper by about 20 bucks.

This is great news!! thanks for the replies!! does installing the RED top Optima require using the chincey "adaptor" that I've seen used in some other car applications?? or is it a straight bolt in??
