PT River Run Dave Davidson... Can't Post

Today the PT community is reeling, over the news of PT River Run creator Dave Davidson, being taken back to the hospital and being put in ICU. Dave has been battling some transplant problems for quite some time, then last year he developed cancer and has been doing Chemo for that...early this morning, his wife Mara sent this out to some people, and it might touch some of you that know Dave.
Let's keep him in our thoughts tonight, tomorrow and until he comes out of this terrible situation. We're praying for you Dave...

Hi Everyone -

It's been some time since I've sent an update about Dave, and unfortunately I do not have good news to share. Things have taken a very bad turn for the worse.

Dave had finally been released from Cedar Sinai to a Rehab facility back in Riverside a week ago Friday. It looked like things were finally moving towards the road to recovery, after having withstood his full 6 chemo treatments. However, after several days in the rehab facility, he suddenly went downhill. He started getting confused and hallucinating. At first it was just once in a while, and we thought maybe it was due to some cough medicine they had given him. But, by the end of the week, something was definitely wrong with him. He was acting strangely, and no longer clearheaded. On Saturday he was transferred back into the hospital (Riverside Community).

They are not sure what is going on. They thought maybe he had a stroke, but it doesn't appear that is the case. They think he has some infections going on, and in the meantime his cough has gotten worse, and he was having difficulty breathing. They were planning to do an MRI of his brain, but his breathing difficulty made it impossible for him to lie flate.

Last night they moved him into ICU. Tonight they had to put him on a resperator. He is sedated, so that he can't pull out any tubes, because he is still in a very dillusional state. He is having some sort of dementia, so he is not clear at all, and is constantly talking to people who aren't there or reliving conversations from his past (a lot of them having to do with PTs and car shows). I have taken his cell phone from him, because he is no longer aware of it.

It is with a very heavy heart that I am writing this e-mail, because things have never looked worse for Dave.

Keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

Mara

Well, a LOT has happened in the last week, in reference to Dave's health and the PT River Run....but good news is the last word.

Dave had some problems last week, having to go BACK to the hospital and go into ICU. Frown He had some infections going on, and they had to watch him closely. BUT Dave's determination has been strong, and he's doing better. Kissy
He was on a respirator, but has been taken off of that and the ill effects of the infection have gone.....so keep your PT fingers crossed and those prayers for Dave coming, they have always helped before!!

The PT prayers ARE helping for right now!!! CheeringCheersCheeringWave

Dave is up and walking a little, he's still not home yet, but he hopes to be by the time the River Runs starts in March!!

The effects of his chemo therapy are fading for now, and they've ever murmured the "remission" word......so keep the PT prayers rollin' in, and keep Dave in your thoughts.

Better than that, come to the River Run and give Dave your support in person!!!! We're going to have an awesome time, and there's no better way to enjoy Nevada, right on the river and paying Laughlin prices!!

Thanks to all of you for your good thots tho, it really matter because he's coming here and reading them! Hat
