PT with installed mobility scooter lift

Hello I'm new here, but have looked a couple of times and read your post and have learned a lot from you all. Many Thanks. I do have a couple of questions. Has anyone every installed a mobility scooter lift in their PT? I bought a 2001 Silver with only 40,000 miles on it. It was always kept in the garage and the older lady just used it mostly to do her shopping and go to church. The interior and exterior is still lin excellent shape. And it was a steal price wise. I am disabled and use a Pride GoGo Elite Traveler Scooter when I go out and about. It breaks down but it's getting to the point where it's just about all I can do to lift the parts in. The scooter fits nicely in the rear. The lift would be a god send. Also what about the remote starter kits? The manual says no, but I think I read about some of you putting it on. Let me know and I'll check back from time to time. I won't be going anywhere right now. We received 10 inches of the white stuff today and I don't get out until it about gone. Afraid I'll fall with my bad leg and brace. Thanks again to you all. I love my PT and only have had it since the second week of January. Sue ----------

Hi Sue and welcome from Michigan. I can't tell you about a lift, but I also have an '01'. I took my PT to Ziebart auto about 6 yrs ago and had a remote start put in. Manual says you can't do it, but it's worked without any problems for almost 7 yrs. Gary ---------- If it's gonna happen - it's gonna happen out there.

Hello, I also use a mobility scooter if I need to walk for more than about 15 or 20 minuites, if you buy the "Hidden Hitch" brand receiver you can use a hitch lift as long as the lift/rack and the scooter do not weigh more than 200 lbs, the Mopar brand hitch is only good to 100 lbs, if your scooter is heaver like mine then you can get a remote control power "Arm" lift, that lifts & swivels in and out of the back of the PTs hatch, now for my other PT, a Dream Cruiser Convertible I use a small utility trailer for my scooter, and I am in the process of building a matching PT Trailer from the rear of a wrecked PT Cruiser. Check my trailer progress in the link in my signature, If money is a problem you can also use a inexpencive aluminum ramps to put it in the back, but as I get more unstable, I like the power swivel lift in the hatchback, and I may put one in the trailer instead of using ramps also, mine was about $950.00 installed, and then you can gat a tax credit on your taxes and get most of it back, If you were to buy a new car Chrylser will give you up to $1500.00 back with a disability help plan that most car manufactures have. ---------- '05 GT Dream Cruiser Series 4. I saw a pt cruiser with the ramp that came down when the driver's side door was opened The power chair goes into the space where the seat went. and then then driver can just drive away. I saw this advertised on E-bay for around $12,000 .There is some chrysler dealer on the east coast that is selling them .I saw it one one of the PT web sites. So maybe if you search around you'll find it. It really was a looker. ---------- big jim

Hi Sue....I too use a Go Go for long distant use, but I am still putting my scooter up into the back of my PT. There are several websites that sell a bracket that attaches to the floor of your PT, and lifts your scooter into the back. It WILL require professional installation and might require some modification to sure up the floor, for lifting the scooter. The place I bought my scooter has several to choose from.....they start at about $500. http://www.easymobilityco.com/...ty_scooter_lifts.htm Good luck and enjoy your PT!!!! ----------

Not exactly a mobility scooter lift, but I came across this site and thought the info might be helpful for anyone else looking under this thread for fitting a wheelchair. http://www.accesssolutions-ky.com/Vehicles.php

I have actually seen one of these PTs. At one of our events, the owners stopped by where we were having our car show. Naturally it got a lot of attention. Very well done. Also, if the wheelchair person in your family is the passenger, not the driver, the passenger side of the PT can be made to accept a wheelchair, instead.
