Hey all, Have a cpl of questions, and haven't been around as of late... Life has gotten a lot busier these days. I hope that all is well with everyone, and hope nothing bad has happened. My questions are thus: I purchased the port holes, but am uncertain as to how to put them on... I know the surface has to be clean, but what do I clean it with?? Was thinking bout taking into the car wash, but wasn't sure how they'd stay on afterwards... or if they would adhere properly... Was also wondering, when installed, do these stay on through a pressure washer?? and how long do they stay on for?? Do they need to be reapplied ever?? Thanks in advance for your replies and help!!!

Thought that I'd mention that these are the port holes, or pieces that go onto the hood of the car... I noticed a lot of ppl have them, and was told they're quite a hot selling item lol Umm... sorry for any confusion. I know they adhere with 3M backing already, but want to make sure that they will stay put through a car wash and all. Thanks for any help!!!

I bought a set of portholes the other day at AutoZone. Not sure wither to use them or not. They look kinda cheap. Wish I could find some real metal ones. Would like to see some close-ups of some really nice ones and where to get them. Bob ---------- 2001 Limited Stone White, Loaded w/E&G Stuff

From my experience, the answer to making this type of product work is to clean the area thoroughly (to remove any wax) with good old drug store alcohol. There are some specialized commercial automotive products (Adhesive Promoters) that come with many of these 'stick-on' accessories, but I have had good luck with by following the following recommendations: Make sure it's CLEAN with alcohol (do it twice) Make sure it's WARM outside Align and PRESS them on firmly, then PRESS again Don't hit the local car wash for at least a week There is a bunch of factory OEM trim that is held on by this same 3M tape - right from the factory. If done properly, it seems to hold up just fine. ----------

When I did the chrome strips on the side and back of mine, I just cleaned the area with a wet rag and then towel dried. I made sure the temperature outside was above 60 degrees. When you go to apply them, put them VERY LIGHTLY in the place you want them and then step back and make sure it looks right when looking at the "Big Picture". Once you firmly press them in place, they aren't going anywhere. I've had the side chrome strips on for at least 6 months now and have washed the car to many times to remember. I wash it at home, so I don't know if the car wash will hurt them, but I don't see why it would. I don't think a jackhammer could take them back off. Good luck and take some pics for us when you're done! -Ray ----------

Hey Bobster, I'll take pics when I'm finished putting my own on. I'm going to use them. I've seen them on a # of Cruisers, and liked them so much, I wanted to add them to my own. I bought my own from Race and Street, but they're probably all the same. After they're added they look pretty sharp. As pieces off the car, they just look... Well... like pieces of a puzzle, which don't look good by themselves lol If you're hesitant, take a look at pics of other Cruisers with them on, and I think you may change your mind.

Thanks for the tips loleynik and Ray. I'll add them when it warms up, and will not be pressing them on firmly until I'm certain I like the way they look. Think I may use the wood alcohol to clean the area a few times though, as I don't want to screw this up lol Will be taking pics and putting those up as soon as it's all done. Also bought the scuff pads for the handles which I'm hoping to add on soon too. So looking forward to warmer weather now!!! lmao My Cruiser is going to take a change for the better I think. Still thinking bout some sort of graphic to add s well. Saw some that I like which comes in a set of 3... 2 graphics for doors, and 1 for back. Haven't seen them on the road either, so am thinkin of adding those. Will take pics when done though. Thanks all for your input so far!!!

Hi Dan, Welcome Back. I am confused as well. When did you get your PTC, is it a new or different one? How are you anyway? I have not been on the forum for ages but glad to see you are back. I want portholes as well and want to see your pictures. I have the scuff guards. Also want those curb feelers for some reason. Have you thought about pin stripping? I love mine a lot more than my graphic and it will last longer. Take care, friend, Mickey ---------- 2005 ELECTRIC BLUE CLASSIC Being happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect.
