Production totals for 04 DC3s Can't Post

Has anyone contacted Chrysler for the production breakdown on the DC 3. I understand there were only 1309 total DC 3s but I am curious how many 5 speeds, is my 5 speed DC3 as rare as the 03 DC2 5 speeds were?Tongue

I don't have any authoritative answer, but from all that I've read, it would appear the ratio was something like 80-20 for autostick vs. 5-spd. So maybe 250 5 speeds total.

I shot Chrysler Customer Service an email over the weekend asking for a breakdown and a confirmation of the 1309 total. Hopefully they will answer the question soon! I will post thier reply as soon as I receive one and fiqure out how to post it LOL! Is yours stick or auto? Did you buy it local or out of state? The dealer that had mine had another identical one but I havent found out were it went, it was sold right before mine! According to my calculations thier were only 14% sticks produced in 03 DC2s, 297 out 2189!

Mine is an autostick. Bought on the October 2004 Year-End Clearance at the local dealer. Right after the DC4 convertible kicked the woefully overpriced DC3 out of the showroom, onto the backlot. Where I picked it up at firesale pricing.

Bought mine March 05 same deal I offered the dealer $10000 off sticker after finding one advertised for the same price. He took it! I felt better paying him that after paying him sticker -$200 on my 2001 LE!Cheers

Re: [Rich W] Production totals for 04 DC3s Can't Post

This is the answer I recieved from Chrysler today. Dear Richard:

Thank you for your recent email to DaimlerChrysler Motors Corporation
regarding production numbers for the model year 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser
Dream Cruiser Series 3.

Our database shows 1,188 Dream Cruiser Series 3 vehicles were produced
for model year 2004. Of these, 1,016 had automatic transmissions; 172
had 5-speed manual transmissions.

Thank you again for your email.
This is direct from Chrysler Customer service so I am wondering about the 1309 number that is going around? My car is one of 1188 and one of 127!

Re: [Rich W] Production totals for 04 DC3s Can't Post

Rich,

The 1309 figure also came directly from Chrysler. I posted the same day I was on the phone with 'em getting the information:

http://www.ptcruiserclub.org/cgi-local/gforum/gforum.cgi?post=166083;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;session=d3ec5b434d4680965 3e5f3c8996 10c9c;page=unread#unread

I'd hazard to guess if a 3rd person at Chrysler answered the same question, we'd have 3 different replies.

Well now who do we believe? I was sent back a reply through the customer service email system, in fact it was from William the same guy that sent back the total for the Dream Cruiser 2s that is posted here. This is a tough one, but I will tell you I asked him to confirm the 1309 total and give me a breakdown of stick versus auto production. I will forward you his reply if you give me an email address. You have an 02 DC1 the second one you bought and the 03 DC3 also? I went back and read all you posts on that thread that cool but you need a Tangerine DC2 now dont you! ROFL Your is a 5speed also right, one of 172 is cool and heck 1188 is even better than 1309! OkieCruser I am going to call Customer servic Monday and see if I can speak to William the Senior Staff Representative that provided the numbers for the 03 and 04 Dreams. I have another idea, what is the highest numbered DC3 vin that anyone here has, maybe that will solve the dilemma?

It's all very confusing, Rich. I did end up with a Tangerine, too - #2567 of 2189 (that causes me to have a headache so I quit trying to figure out why the number is higher than the total built) Roll eyes

My '04 Dreamer is auto-stick - the '02 is auto. I just never did have any luck finding a 5-speed.

If you get more info please let me know. I do check by for PM's.

Good luck!
Glenn

Re: [OkieCruzer] Production totals for 04 DC3s Can't Post

Now that is confusing, they were supposed to reserve a block of VINs from 0001- 7500 thier original projected production. This was printed in the Dream Cruiser press release back in 03! So if they only made 2189 how could yours have a higher # than the total? I am guessing that when 7500 orders didn't come in the reserved VIN block went out the window! The Tangerine is a 5 speed? I found an 03 DC2 with 9718 the last 4 of the VIN so the 0001-7500 was definately not used!

The only possible answer I was been able to imagine is that some of the numbers for the '03 Dreamers were assigned to the exported 'Street Cruisers'. Maybe??? I gave up trying to figure it out. I think it may all be a case of corporate thinking, which is rarely good......

My Tangerine is auto-stick (dang it).

I read you reply and the linked reply you posted. It was your 04 that you said you were getting used to the stick-shift? Thats why I thought you had a 5 speed, all three of yours are autos right? The 02 DC1 is an auto and the 03 & 04 are autostick automatics right?

Can you provide me with an email address for DC so that I might inquire about production figures.

Re: [Rich W] Production totals for 04 DC3s Can't Post

Here's what usually happens. I've seen it with the muscle cars for years. Chrysler is always handing out production figures based on Domestic orders. They forget about this other little place called CANADA where we get the same cars you cats get. The dealer where I bought my first DC3 told me that only about 200 of them made it this far north. The dealer I bought the second one from told me exactly the same thing. If the about 200 is really 182, it adds up to the 1309 that Chrysler also states. Hope this clears this up.

Rich, I like that 172 number. Just another reason to hold on to it. I bought mine in Feb. 2005, and got it for $21k. Apparently, it sat on the lot for awhile because it was a stick, and to think I went into the dealership looking at Jeeps, what a find.

Nvr2Fast,
I was happy with that number but the total production number they gave me is different from the 1309 previously found here. Someone suggested that they, Chrysler that is didnt count they ones built for Canada. I guess only time will tell what the true number is 1188 or 1309?

Yeah, but in all seriousness, I doubt all the export models were 5-speeds...
Even if they were, the numbers are still pretty low...

Re: [Nvr2Fast] Production totals for 04 DC3s Can't Post

I have heard they built 1188 for U.S. and another like 121 for Canada would explain the 1309 total. Chrysler emailed me the number 1188 with 172 5 speeds and 1016 autos. If they built 1309 total with the Canadian ones, out of the 121 how many would be 5 speed 25 maybe? So we have a rare car either way! I sold my 2001 Black Mustang Bullit one of like 1200 and bought the PT thinking it was one of 7500 and now I find it is one of maybe 172 or 200!!!!!

No doubt. We should hook up one of these days, I'm only 1.5 hours north of NYC. I've got a '70 Chevelle and wife has a '92 Mustang GT that we play with as well. That is cool about the Bullitt and DC3 though. Check my Cardomain site for pics of the Bullitt and other cars I've had.
