Pt Cruiser GT convertible - cloth or leather?
|

I have a dealer delivering an 05 GT PT, hopefully today!, from a Chrysler dealer in Virginia to my state of NJ. The car has 8k on it and was described as an GT Turbo 05 convetible with an automatic trans and cloth interior. I have been checking the web trying to find a car which looks like the one coming in cause I am soooooo anxious of course! Thing I noticed while looking through the internet is that almost all the GT turbo converts have a leather interior and autostick. The dealer read the options to me from his order screen....so the question is can a car of the model level have the cloth interior, did the screen details have some sort of mistake? (hardly possible.. RIGHT!). I dunno, guess I'll just wait and check it out once it comes in and take it from there. I havre a sneaking suspicion this is a tourbo, Touring Edition...any ideas? Also anything I should keep an eye out for when checking out the vehicle??? Any advice will be appreciated. ---------- 2005 Touring Edition Convertible Turbo 2.4L LITE Automatic, cool vanilla, faux Street Edition badging, K&N drop in filter, modded airbox, mini-chrome side flames, chrome gas cap cover, customized rear mud flaps, flying siberian husky fur when top dropped.

My Touring Edition (turbo lite) came with leather seats. I thought the cloth seats only came in the base model unless specifically ordered.... Anyway, good luck on the new PT! Becky :) ----------

The dealer told me it was a black cloth interior. I emailed him yesterday and asked for a detailed option/spec sheet. Since he read this off of what appeared to be an internal dealer website there could have been an error of some sort. Starting to get anxious as the car is in Virginia and was supposed to be sent in to NJ, this was a week and a half ago, so if this dealer doesn't come up with the car by the end of the week I'll shop elsewhere! ---------- 2005 Touring Edition Convertible Turbo 2.4L LITE Automatic, cool vanilla, faux Street Edition badging, K&N drop in filter, modded airbox, mini-chrome side flames, chrome gas cap cover, customized rear mud flaps, flying siberian husky fur when top dropped.

Just wanted to follow up with you all on this 2 weeks of waiting for the GT Convert! A funny thing happened on the way into the dealership! I saw the car as we pulled up and knew immediately by the wheels it was a TE Turbo, not a GT...these dealears are so off it isn't funny...I was telling them they told me it ws a GT and it wasn't but they pleaded IT IS A GT! So we gave them a bit of an edumacation...wd didn't get much extra out of our uncovering of this "immense mystery!" So we bought it anyways! It is awesome!!! Hope to post pics soon... Thx to all for you help on me purchasing my first ever PT 2.4L Turbo Lite auto, cooool vanilla, black top and CLOTH interior! ---------- 2005 Touring Edition Convertible Turbo 2.4L LITE Automatic, cool vanilla, faux Street Edition badging, K&N drop in filter, modded airbox, mini-chrome side flames, chrome gas cap cover, customized rear mud flaps, flying siberian husky fur when top dropped.

Congratulations on your new baby! Expect to be obsessed with washing it for quite a while...there's nothing else more aggravating to me than too much dust on my GORGEOUS inferno red paint job. I'm out there with my brush wand attachment for my hose, my bucket of dollar store car suds, and my spongey yellow water suctioning sponge cloth about once a week. I can totally wash and dry in about 10-15 minutes now. I got that sponge cloth at Target. It dries my car instantly as soon as I wipe over it. Why pay 14 or more bucks for a car wash when you can have so much fun looking at your smiling face in the reflection of your gorgeous paint job? I love the vanilla, too. Love them ALL!!! And get ready to smile and wave at all PT drivers out there...they always smile and wave back if they don't do it first! Happy Days ahead for you!!! Linda in Houston We just bought a 1900 farmhouse in the country on a hilltop. It's yellow. My red vert sure is cute in front of it. The only challenge is that the road to it is white gravel and our baby car gets dusty every time we drive on it. OH well, I'll have a clean city car and a dusty country car. C'est la vie! Thx! Yes, the car really moves! Having test drove both an auto and manual LE coupe I was put off by the lack of Umph! But this Turbo TE really zoooooms! No turbo lag, smooth, refined, and a joy to handle. I haven't tried to open her up on the road yet. What work does the stage 1 chip involve? I'll probably levae the PT as is for a bit and enjoy what I have and look to do some minor mods in the spring, chrome bezels around the door handles and trunk release look nice, plus they are functional as they eliminate the lil scratches that occurr over time like our mini-van! Maybe some graphics down the sides to slice up all that vanilla....but the chip does interest me, was it a very involved or expensive venture??? ---------- 2005 Touring Edition Convertible Turbo 2.4L LITE Automatic, cool vanilla, faux Street Edition badging, K&N drop in filter, modded airbox, mini-chrome side flames, chrome gas cap cover, customized rear mud flaps, flying siberian husky fur when top dropped.

I have been obsessed, try that new mr.clean car washer and it worked so well! Since the car has few miles on it,it was a delaer demo of sorts...there are a few minor scuffs I'll need to work out. Do you recommend a paint I can buy to cover small paint chips from the road? That front bumper get alot of chips down low doesn't it! Plus I just got a lil one on the nose of the hood today! DARN! But it is very small and a dab of auto touch up should do... Tha red one must look very contrasting to your yellow home! Would make a nice desktop pic, or one for a galeery on this site! ---------- 2005 Touring Edition Convertible Turbo 2.4L LITE Automatic, cool vanilla, faux Street Edition badging, K&N drop in filter, modded airbox, mini-chrome side flames, chrome gas cap cover, customized rear mud flaps, flying siberian husky fur when top dropped.

Maybe some graphics down the sides to slice up all that vanilla....but the chip does interest me, was it a very involved or expensive venture??? The stage 1 upgrade involves replacing the PCM module. It is very easy to install The most difficult part is the "relearning" involved for automatic transmissions and even that is pretty simple. You can get the module for around $380 at www.haynesspeedshop.com. Chrysler also recommends that the spark plugs and wires be replaced with high peformance ones and that's about $80. You also want to consider installing a Blow off Valve (BOV) which costs about $70 and is the most difficult install. Aside from its performance value, the BOV makes the coolest sound! I did all three of those the first month I had my GT. I owned a Dream Cruiser, Series 1 that had all kinds of bling on it (mostly chrome), but with the 'vert I wanted to stick with performance and am extremely happy with the stage 1. Next up is a plastic intake and new dual exhaust. Since your interior and top are black, why not consider putting on the black door and trunk scuff plates? Play up that black and white contrast. There's also taillight and headlight replacements that do the black thing:
Here's a link to the scuff thingys: http://ptboutique.com/Browse_Item_Details.asp/Item _ID/153/categ_id/23/parent_ids/0,4,23/Name/Door_Handle_Scratch_Gaurds_-_MOPAR Anyway, enjoy!
