Recommended plugs for Stage 1 Turbo Can't Post

I didn't intend to hijack GT Girl's thread, but maybe it was good that I asked for more information. At any rate, I will start my own thread to request the information I need.
I did remember that Platinum was a no-no in the turbo. That is why I asked whether the NGKs they used were Iridium. At one time, I saw a Champion copper core plug recommended, but I was not sure whether those posts were made before the Iridiums came out.
At this time, what is the best plug, brand and construction, (and part number if you have that info handy) for the Stage 1 Turbo? How should they be gapped? I assume I would use an anti seize compound on the threads and a small amount of silicone boot sealant?

Thanks,

Scott

I'm at that awkward age. I ask for the senior discount at restaurants, but my PT still has Stage 1 and dual 10" subwoofers.

The "Essential Upgrade" parts list on the Mopar Stage 1 install / instruction sheet are "NGK LZTR5A-13, (4306), copper plugs gapped @ .035, or equivalent",
if you want to spend more money and have your plugs last longer, then you can use the NGK LZTR5AIX-13 (2314) Iridium plugs gapped @ .028, both of these plugs are "1 step colder" than the non turbo engine plugs, as recommended for every 75 to 100hp increase. These were recommended by the guys at the Mopar Performance Hotline at 888-528-HEMI (4364) and they are the ones that told me not to use platinum plugs as the bonding metal that bonds the platinum tip to the electrode will melt and the tip will come loose and be sucked into the engine, our PT Turbo engines run around 1800 degrees in the combustion chamber, most other engines do not run this hot, so they can use platinum plugs, but not our turbos.

Also on the "Essential Upgrade" list are a high performance plug wire set.

Both of these things are a must for the Stage 1 upgrade along with the Stage 1 PCM.

Re: [Dream 4] Recommended plugs for Stage 1 Turbo Can't Post

Thanks, Dream 4, for the detailed reply. My Stage 1 information sheet is dated 6/6/05 and states that I should use the NGK PLZTRA5A plug, which is a Platinum plug, gapped to .035". That is why I wanted current information before ordering. This evening I ordered a set of NGK LZTR5AIX-13 (2314) Iridium plugs and the Magnecor 45231 (KV-85) wire set from Alamo Motor Sports.com.

Yes, my sheet is dated 06/08/05 and it is also has that number, and that was why I had called Mopar, the plug is a misprint and the "P" should not have been put in the part number, as a second source, I had also been told this by Haynes Speed shop / Chrysler, (http://www.haynesspeedshop.com/Store/home.php), where I had bought my Stage 1 kit back in '05, I just wanted a second opinion so I called the Mopar Hotline I mentioned above, but the way Mopar updates their info I am not sure if they ever changed the typo for the '06 sheets or not, if someone has a '06 or '07 Stage 1 Install sheet please let us know what plug is recommended on the newer Stage 1 kits.Smile
