Rub Marks on my Top? Anyone else have this?

My top has rub marks where it touches the body moulding when it is down. Makes a rub mark about 6-8" long on the outer edge on the top half way back. It is where the top bellows out when it folds. Do they all do this? Can it be adjusted somehow ? I am concerned about the long term wear on the top in these spots. Any ideas?

Yeah, mine has those marks too. I think it's normal and there isn't much to do about it based on other ragtops I've had. Sitting out in the sun all the time or not treating it periodically with water repellent will age the top long before those marks in my opinion.

This is my first Vert. Would using the boot help stop the rubbing? I think it would since it won't ru. Second, how do you treat/protect the top? What product should I use?

It's normal. ALL Convertibles do this, the material folds and the body flexs=rub marks. I work on convertibles all the time. just did and 2005 Aston MArtin Vantage DB9 with LOTS of rub marks due to the beige top. Mine is black so the run, marks don't appear as much. You do tend to see the marks due to dirt on the lighter colour roofs.

The manual says to put ScotchGuard on it to repel water, although I think it's better to use products specifically designed for cloth tops for both cleaning and treating. I've always used products from Meguiars http://www.meguiars.com/ with good results.

The ONLY product to use on your convertibles roofs is RAGGTOPP. It is a 2 part product, one for cleaning and the other for protecting. It is also the ONLY product endorsed by LEAKPRO and the roof manufacturers themselves such as HARTZ who made our roofs on our PT's. Make sure when ordering, you order for the CLOTH roof. I can't believe that one of the PT stores does not sell this. It is simply the best.
