Should my new PT do this? Can't Post

I bought it new a few weeks ago. It had 9 miles then and has 406 miles now.

When accelerating from a stop, it doesn't accelerate smoothly. It feels like the engine is surging slightly. Also at all speeds up to 55 mph, the car vibrates like it has a bad tire (I haven't gone faster then 55 mph yet). Are these inherent traits of PT Cruisers, or is something wrong with mine?

Not an inherent trait. Something is wrong and you need to go back to the dealer for warranty. Good luck. Wave

The only inherent problem with the PT is the Badyear tires from the factory. We haven't had any issues so far with our but many folks have had belt seperation problems. So, get the tires and wheel checked too.

Thanks everyone, I'll schedule an appointment. I hope it's not a "can not duplicate problem" thing when I take it in like GM used to do to me.

CoolSomething is definately up.The crappy OEM Badyear radials are infamous for belt separation and the symptom you are describing sounds like this happened. The non smooth acceleration is a dealer issue to contend with also.........God Bless..........Mike
