It depends on your interior trim colors, they are anywhere from light gray, (light Taupe) to medium gray, (Dark Taupe)almost black ( Charcoal Grey)Smile

Re: [ThreeLAKE] Steering wheel question? Can't Post

CoolA real simple solution to the staining problem is to go on Ebay and get a wheelskins steering wheel wrap. The leather wrap on my 01 was very thin to say the least and for around 45 dollars got a thick two toned leather wrap that sets off the looks of the steering wheel quite nicely..........God Bless.....Mike

The WheelSkins Steering Wraps are really nice. I picked one on ebay for $30. I got the two tone Cobalt blue and Black. They pretty much have every color in the rainbow to match every car. You can put the colors on top or sides also.It takes a while to put on ,but in the long run it is deffinately worth the time and the expense.Wink

The pre-06 is different from the 06 also. The pre-06 is rounder and has indentions going around the perimeter of the horn button. To tell you the truth, I like the 06 intererior better than the pre-06, but I would rather have the previous styled steering wheel.

Here are some photos for reference:

CheersI like the pre 06 steering wheel better also.As for the interior I am a fan of the original.I guess it is all a matter of personal taste. It doesn't appear that the diameter of the wheel changed any so the wheel skin wrap would still be fine.My wife is a interior designer and told me that the grade of leather used for the wheel wrap is very poor. That is why there is such a vast inprovement in appearance and fell after the wrap is applied. All the best and God bless.........Mike

Re: [Midnight Cruiser] Steering wheel question? Can't Post

I did EXACTLY what everyone suggested! After I got my check for $900 from Target, because they were why my wheel was stained, I ordered a Wheelskin. If I don't like it I will have the whole wheel replaced at the dealership. The only problem I have with it is that it came with black thread! The cover I ordered is grey on top and sea blue on the sides, it will look Slammin' if it had grey thread. I have emailed Wheelskins about different color thread and have got no reply, I think I will call the 1800 # tomorrow. I will definately post pics when she is done, before and after!

Re: [garpike] Steering wheel question? Can't Post

Okay so when I bought my car in July 0f 07' I loved the thing to death. The only problem was the steering wheels leather was a real light grey. My dad demanded that I get a wheel cover to stop it from staining and to protect it. I went to Target and found the most perfect one ever! It matched the interior and was still manly haha! Unfortunately a couple weeks later the thing started to turn orange so I peeled it back and my whole wheel is this nasty yellow/green color (but the inside of the cover itself was orange now, it started out grey) and the serial numbers on the inside of the cover have permanently embedded themselves into the leather. I took her to a leather repair place and tried several cleaners to take out the stains but nothing worked. I took some pictures as well as the steering wheel cover and original package and receipt and an estimate ($940 Approx.) to target and explained what had happened and what I should do to get the product taken off the shelves. They gave me some numbers to call and I called and explained what happened and filed an accident report form. A week or so later I got a copy of a letter that target sent to the manufacturer explaining if they don't repair my steering wheel that target will be forced to pull their products nationwide. I within a few days I had a letter from the president of the company apologizing for the problem and it was HAND SIGNED! no signature stamps whatsoever! I thought that was awesome, I mean everything is just printed on today but they were taking this very serious. Then the insurance company needed the estimate and asked for some pics. I sent everything and they sent me an offer for $900 and I took it. I guess I wasn't the only one having problems with this particular steering wheel cover. All in all it took about 3 months, from damage to receiving the check. My original question was posted here because that dark grey steering wheel is what the dealership was trying to put in my car and it wouldn't match. I would also like to stress how much I LOVE TARGET! and I know Wal-mart would have never stood behind their products like Target did!

Re: [Midnight Cruiser] Steering wheel question? Can't Post

So I wrapped my wheel and here are the pics.... both before and after. I did the a baseball stitch and it took about 7 hours! But I am happy with the result and would do it again! The before pics really don't do it justice so I posted only the one with the indentations and some staining. But the staining was an eyesore and everyone who got in the car would be like "What the heck happened?!" At least its a story I can laugh about now! Thanx SO MUCH everyone who suggested this cover! With the money leftover me and some friends are takin' the cruiser to DISNEYLAND in June!
