Strange Window Glitch
Can't Post
Two days ago I opened the passenger door and the window went down 1/4 inch like normal, however, when closing the door I noticed it didn't go up to seal against the top like it's supposed to do. I went into the car thru the drivers door and put the window up all the way. Then I tried to open the passenger door again and the window didn't come down to let the door open. I lowered the window a couple inches and put it back up and it still didn't open that 1/4 inch. The last thing I tried was lowering the window all the way down and put it back up again and lo and behold, the window dropped like normal when I opened the door! It's been normal since then. Is this car so computerized that I had a computer glitch that caused this to happen? I would have thought there were little switches in the door that detected the window being up or cracked open or full down and things would work off the switches. Apparently I was wrong and by lowering the window all the way I got the computer back in sync. Anyway, I decided to post this message in case anyone else has this happen so they'll know that you just lower the window all the way down and it'll (hopefully...) put everything back in sync. Also I wanted to ask if anyone knew anything about how the window does it's cool little trick of cracking open when you open the door. Am I right that it's a computer making this happen? Has anyone ever had this happen in their convertibles? ---------- 2005 Bright Silver Convertible, 5 speed with 8 ball knob, chrome door spears, chrome gas cap door, chrome antenna bezel, chrome grill kit, chrome rear bumper pillows, chrome bumper trim, stainless antenna with flames, stainless door panel trim, chrome smoothies with baby moons, 2" wide "gangster" white walls, chrome tail light trim, K&N air filter element in a modified airbox and an oogah horn. Hmmm, what have I forgotten???

I guess there is some sort of mechanical trigger that srpings when you enact the door handles on the outside/inside of the door. What is really fun is when (if your in a cold climate) the window freezes to the lower rubber seal and refuses to go down when you open the PT on a chilly morning. The result is a window that is plump on the outside of your top! Remedy is to whip out your credit card, then zip it between the rubber seal and glass removing the ice and freeing up your magical window upper/ downer moving thingy. JOY! ---------- 2005 Touring Edition Convertible Turbo 2.4L LITE Automatic, cool vanilla, faux Street Edition badging, K&N drop in filter, modded airbox, mini-chrome side flames, chrome gas cap cover, customized rear mud flaps, flying siberian husky fur when top dropped.

Hmmm, if it happens again and doesn't fix itself or keeps happening, I can at least take it down to Chrysler and show them the TSB. Hi: I know this is months after the fact here, but where is Mike getting these TSBs? I've been on the Chrysler website for them and there is not anything like this listed. The Feds have a website where you can search for them: http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/tsb/tsbsearch.cfm They also have recalls and you can search any car (apparently back to '62...) Yup: you have a computer sensor for that function......you may have in intermittent malfunction. I remember scanning through this stuff on interior/body stuff when I was examining my 22,000 page Chrysler manual on CD. In regard to your question, Chrysler has recounted in one of the online auto mags how/why they have this function--remember reading that, too. Your intermittent problem is actually kind of like "deja vue" here for me........when I first noticed the car had this function when looking at mine on the showroom floor, the first thing I said was: well, I wonder how long it'll take for THAT to malfunction. I'll have to remember your little trick if it ever happens to me. You'll have either a U, B or C error code for this, I think--if I find it in this huge manual, I'll let you know.
