TOP CLEANERS...Which one is best to buy???

I have seen the 303 products, they have a cleaner and a protectant about 11 bucks each, free shipping......much cheaper than the pro one which is recommended by Hartz, cannot remember the name of it but the dual fit was 31.95 plus shipping the top manufacturer. Which product do you folks recommend? Tis the season for nasty tree sap to be falling here in north new jersey....I have just been using the garden hose when it is a bit warmer to get it off for now. Any suggestions? I haven't bought any special cleaners for my top yet (haven't needed it). When I wash the car I have one of those sponges with the nylon netting on it (I think it's called a bug/tar remover pad at the auto store) and dip it in the car wash bucket to get it soapy. The nylon netting has been abrasive enough to get off anything that has dropped on the roof. Of course, I haven't had to deal with tree sap.... just bird droppings and stuff like that. Ok, I was a bit paranoid about using anything other than a specific top cleaner. I thought using plain old car wash would remove the gaurding placed on the top by the manufacturer, hence deplete the tops ability to ward off getting old and haggard. Perhaps I was swayed by good marketing? ---------- 2005 Touring Edition Convertible Turbo 2.4L LITE Automatic, cool vanilla, faux Street Edition badging, K&N drop in filter, modded airbox, mini-chrome side flames, chrome gas cap cover, customized rear mud flaps, flying siberian husky fur when top dropped.

I've seen recommendations for plain old soap and water, with an application of 3M fabric waterproofing. Since my PT was such a large investment, I went with the Haartz product. It's called "RaggTopp". I bought the cleaner and protectant kit for $30. Here's a link if you're interested: http://www.autogeek.net/racotopcakit.html ---------- "You can fool some of the people all of the time." ...and thanks to the presidential approval polls we even know the exact percentage.

I have been using the 303 products and think they work fine. I use them because I'm concerned with my black top fading from UV exposure and I want to keep the top waterproof. The cleaner probably isn't any better than using a good car wash soap and a soft brush (which I have done) but I like the idea of protecting the fabric from the hot desert sun we have in Las Vegas, which the 303 protectant is supposed to do. I don't know if the 3M protectant also has UV protection or not. ---------- 2005 Bright Silver Convertible, 5 speed with 8 ball knob, chrome door spears, chrome gas cap door, chrome antenna bezel, chrome grill kit, chrome rear bumper pillows, chrome bumper trim, stainless antenna with flames, stainless door panel trim, chrome smoothies with baby moons, 2" wide "gangster" white walls, chrome tail light trim, K&N air filter element in a modified airbox and an oogah horn. Hmmm, what have I forgotten???

Thx, I am going for the raggtopp kit, read around the web and seems this is the best solution. I hate seeing all those Sebrings with dull drab n dry tops...from what I read thes Sebring tops are made by Hartz as well. I use raggTopp also. Very pleased with it. I got mine from First Place Auto LLC here in New Jersey when I was at the Atlantic City car auction this winter. They have great prices on RaggTopp and you can order from their web site firstplaceautollc.com and they will ship. They also carry Meguiar's waxes and polishes. ----------
