The New Chrysler Product Plans

See this article from Newsweek - lots of interesting things to chew on: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/...ite/newsweek/page/0/ and http://www.msnbc.msn.com/...isplaymode/1107/s/2/ Definitely looks like some Chrysler-built SUVs will bite the dust soon. Speculates again on the next generation PT Cruiser, if it is called that, based on the Dodge Journey. ----------

Will the Dodge Journey get some retro-look sheet metal and become the next gen. PT Cruiser? Hopefully, it won't just be a renamed Journey. Very dull... ----------

At least the PT didn't make that list. Still who knows what will be next for the PT, maybe they will listen to all of us. Maybe they will kill the new Journey as well. ---------- Greg nhcruzer "Live in the Moment" NEPTCC 06 Limited Turbo Dual Exhaust Cold air intatake Inferno undercar lighting AR Casino Chrome rims

The PT Cruiser, on the other hand, could get a reprieve from the new owners. The modern interpretation of a 1930s gangster getaway car long ago ran out of gas—sales are down 26 percent this year. But the latest word inside Chrysler is that the PT will get a new design and be built alongside Dodge's new Journey crossover utility vehicle in Mexico. Apparently, GM's success with the Chevy HHR—a PT clone—has emboldened Chrysler to try to revive its one-time hit. Thats at least a glimmer of hope. They have a platform to put it on, now just design some retro sheet metal and we're good to go! ----------

BUT I will say the Panel Version HHR is NOT to Shabby except the non retro rearend, which to me is the biggest flaw with the HHR as far as retro styling goes. ---------- AUCRZR on Horsepower TV Show http://webpages.charter.net/tigertown/hptv.3g2

Thanks Davnau, a glimmer of hope for our PTC. Best news I have heard for awhile. I sort of hang out at the local Chrysler dealership here in Hastings and they have never heard of the PT being discontinued in 2009. I would think they would know this. Is this the last year for the turbo for sure? If so, why? The price of gas? That can not be the reason. Our cars are gas savors for the size of it, I think. So maybe we have a chance.
