My car is only a month old and I havent had any leaks but unless there is a rip in the top I would think they should be covered.

Has anybody had any wind noise issues with the top.I had something rattling around in the frame rail of the top yesterday. It was a metal c clip. Now I have a wind noise coming from the drivers side window and yes the clip was found on the drivers side top frame rail. Going to take it in tomorrow to the dealer for warranty repair but wanted to know if this was a known issue.

Thanks Joe

Re: [jopie2929] Top leaks covered by warranty?? Can't Post

Hi there, I had some leaks coming from the visor attachments into the front bar holding the windsheild. I took it to the dealer, it wound up it was the rubber seal. Do this...open both of your doors, check that the rubber seal is not pulling or broken away from the little plastic tacks that hold the rubber seal into the body of the PT, the most important and stressed one is the one located at the top of each door.
In my case the rubber seal, which is actually ONE LARGE section of rubber running from the top of one door- over the windsheild and to the end of the other door, was broken away from one of the plastic tacks. This loosed the seal against the front of the top. I brought it to DC and they were very nice and replaced it with a whole new seal...now I think what you saw was a loose clip which held the seal to the car body...take it back to the dealer service techs, show them the seal and get it fixed. All covered under warranty.

Re" the noise, all convertibles make a slight wind whistle going over 70-90 mph...is that when you hear a noise? If it is a whistle than that is normal, if it is a rattle something is loose.

DC told me my PT was the first to have the seal break in this manner...go figure.

Good luck and let me know what happens!

This is what the work order states.
Cause**
"S17 Glass trim & body fits".
"11320 found Loose and missing converter side top adjustment shims on drivers side"
Of course they have to order the parts what ever that may be.I did not get a chance to talk to the service advisor before I pick up the car.Dealer says it is ok to drive the car till next week.
After the fix we will see if the noise goes away.

Joe

Is this the same tack you spoke of where the rubber has broken away?

Yes, it is the same exact tack and location. Over time the seal loosened as this rubber seal is a one piece jobber from that tack point, up and over the windshield to the end of the opposite door. Keep a close eye for minute leaks...I noticed them once my rear view mirror got de-glued due to moisture building up due to the drippy drip.

Then they must have redesigned it. Good cause once this tack breaks away from the rubber seal, it becomes loose and can cause a leak where the top meets the windshield.
