Trade-in Value? Can't Post

FrownWhat happened to the PT resale value? Tried to trade my 2003 Dream Cruiser 2, ($27K+ sticker) and the best they can do is $9,500 for my PT in excellent condition with 28,000 miles. What up?

Whoah, $9,500 is whack!

Go to Kelly Blue Book to get a value, kbb.com I think the dealer should be giving you at least $17K according to that. You'd be better off selling it yourself if the dealer is going to be so cheap.

9500!? That is goofy. $17,000 more realistic. But even that is a horrible blow. As far as I go, someone could offer me the price I paid, I still wouldn't sell. I'm enjoying be "different".

If you're trying to Trade-In at a Dealer -- don't.
They only gave me $11,000 on my 2001, and I know they sold it for over $17,000.

Simply post it online or sell it locally using a sign in the window. Dealers will give you all kinds of reasons why they can't give you more. It's all a joke. Convenience is not worth THAT much. Do not do what I did. I accepted the Trade for expediency sake -- then they tried to cheat me on both the Extended Warranty pricing on my new 2004 Dream Cruiser, and the $2,000 Rebate that was being offered by Chrysler. I had to contact the Maryland State Attorneys General Office to collect that.

If your purchase of a new vehicle hinges on you getting a decent Trade-In, sell it outright, first.
Then negotiate.

Re: [GuyOwen] Trade-in Value? Can't Post

Last November I bought a '02 Dream Cruiser #0136 from a Toyota dealer in KY. The car is flawless and like brand new, an automatic with only 4700 miles on it. Still under factory warranty, of course. Complete documentation including window sticker from the original owner still in the glove box. She had traded it in on a new truck.
Paid $12K

Re: [BillsDreamI] Trade-in Value? Can't Post

Kelly Blue Book does not have a listing for a Dream Cruiser, just the basic model line-ups and the trade-in values for these are around the $10k mark for the 03 models. Anyone know what a retail value is for an 2003 Dream Cruiser with 55,000 miles?

Edmunds has the Dream Cruiser listed. http://www.edmunds.com/...00193707/prices.html Of course, the page shown is for my zipcode. Start at Edmund's home page to enter your own zip first.

I don't know if anyone is still interested but...
Since the dream cruiser was technically a package on top of the GT in 2003 & 2004. Go to www.kbb.com and in the configurator, tell it you have a "GT" the next page will pop up and the first option is a "Dream Cruiser" click on that and the other added in options.
For my zip code, it came up around 16,500 for private sale. (I have realtively few miles on mine, and nary a bug splatter)

Re: [orangecrush] Trade-in Value? Can't Post

Thanks for the replies. Regardless of the book values reported by Kelley or Edmunds, what do you think a very clean 2003 Dream Cruiser would sell for (auto-stick, 55,000 miles)?

Before I purchased my 04 dream I found an 03 dream 5 speed with 6000 miles at a dealer in Maryland for $16500 and they would sell at $16000.

Re: [cap10ron] Trade-in Value? Can't Post

kbb had my '02 dreamer at 10,500 for trade-in. The dealer gave my 9700 for it and sold it for 15,988. I paid 19K for it brand new in January '03. Private sales will always be better but you have to wait!

I just picked up a 2004 DC3 #712 with 17K on it for $16K at a Chrysler dealer. We were looking at a new bottom of line model. No way. I could not pass this one up.

Sure do. It's an auto-stick and lots of fun. As I said elsewhere. I no longer worry about the hedge on the merge lane by some hog. I just blow on by and watch the expression on their face. 50 to 80 in nothing flat.
