Wax Stains on the Top

Is there and easy way (or a hard way, for that matter...) to get wax stains off the cloth top? I had an accident with a stubborn bottle of liquid wax, it wouldn't squirt out of the top so I sqeezed it harder and the dried up wax that was blocking the little hole on the bottle broke free and I squirted myself and some of the top with little dropplets of wax. I know better now, there are better ways to free a plugged hole in a bottle of wax... Anyway, the top was treated fairly recently with a protectant (303 or something like that) if that makes any difference. I've washed the car a couple times since the wax incident but the stains are still there. Any ideas? ---------- 2005 Bright Silver Convertible, 5 speed with 8 ball knob, chrome door spears, chrome gas cap door, chrome antenna bezel, chrome grill kit, chrome rear bumper pillows, chrome bumper trim, stainless antenna with flames, stainless door panel trim, chrome smoothies with baby moons, 2" wide "gangster" white walls, chrome tail light trim, K&N air filter element in a modified airbox and an oogah horn. Hmmm, what have I forgotten???

Well, I just washed it for the third time since the mishap today, scrubbed it really good with my soft top brush, and it seems like it's almost gone. I think with one more washing it'll be OK. I guess it's a good thing I treated the top with the 303 stuff, probably helped to protect it somewhat... ---------- 2005 Bright Silver Convertible, 5 speed with 8 ball knob, chrome door spears, chrome gas cap door, chrome antenna bezel, chrome grill kit, chrome rear bumper pillows, chrome bumper trim, stainless antenna with flames, stainless door panel trim, chrome smoothies with baby moons, 2" wide "gangster" white walls, chrome tail light trim, K&N air filter element in a modified airbox and an oogah horn. We use Wolfstiens' RaggTopp Products on our cloth Top. They are great! We especially like that they don't contain silicone like the other top products do. I would recommend buying/trying the RaggTopp Cloth top kit. Comes with the cleaner and the spray protectant you would need to use after you clean the area or entire top. We have shopped around and found that First Place Auto LLC in NJ has the best prices on RaggTopp products. They have a web site, it is www.firstplaceautollc.com Also, we found out that RaggTopp will not void the new car warrantee. You can also read all about it at RaggTopp.com Hope this helps............. ----------

When I put Donna convertible to bed at night I put a cover on the top that I got Moss. This keeps the birds from using the top for target practice..I think it cost me $34.95 or so. And you can throw it into the washing mAchine if needed..Other then that I clean the top with a garden hose only and sun light. ---------- big jim

The main reason I bought and used the 303 (I imagine the RaggTopp is about the same type of product) is for UV protection. I live in the desert and rain really isn't a problem. UV is, I want to keep the top pliable and protect it from fading. A black top looks really great until it fades. I put the 303 protectant on the week I bought the car and it looks just as black today as when I bought the car almost a year ago. Hopefully I can say the same thing 4 or 5 years from now! Water still beads up on it too when I wash the car. I'll probably spray it again soon just to be safe, it's not really expensive and I don't mind using it once a year even though I think it's supposed to last a lot longer than that. ---------- 2005 Bright Silver Convertible, 5 speed with 8 ball knob, chrome door spears, chrome gas cap door, chrome antenna bezel, chrome grill kit, chrome rear bumper pillows, chrome bumper trim, stainless antenna with flames, stainless door panel trim, chrome smoothies with baby moons, 2" wide "gangster" white walls, chrome tail light trim, K&N air filter element in a modified airbox and an oogah horn. I trust what I get from Moss and you can return it if you have a problem. E-bay, Now that's another story. Now tell me about 303. Who sells it, how much is it. and will it work on any canvas top. The reason I'm asking is I have a Carson top from E&G on my 01 PT.It's five years old now and it still looks new, but.Maybe this will help it stay this way. ---------- big jim

Oh so you have a modified PT convertible..wow very cool. 303 is basically a company that sells many types of cleaners...they have a kit specifically made for fab tops. I read about it here, and have ordered it. Ill let you know how it works...mainly looking for something as my top is getting some odd fold marks around the mechanics. ---------- 2005 Touring Edition Convertible Turbo 2.4L LITE Automatic, cool vanilla, faux Street Edition badging, K&N drop in filter, modded airbox, mini-chrome side flames, chrome gas cap cover, customized rear mud flaps, flying siberian husky fur when top dropped.
