Welcome and congratulations on your new purchase. You WILL have fun. I was thinking of getting a cold air intake for my PT but after speaking with a few mechanics they told me that a K&N is good enough in a PT. They said something about a cold air intake filter kit would suck in hot air from it being so close to the motor, unless I would get a ram-air hood. So for now all I have is a K&N filtercharger and a tornado air intake and it seems to work pretty good. ----------

I think most of them are pretty much the same, as long as it is a sealed system that picks up air from the factory location in the fender well. If its just a cone filter hanging of the end of a tube it is going to pull hot under hood air and actually hurt performance. I have a Volant setup on mine and I like the way is sounds and works. It has a bit larger tubing going to the throttle body and a large air box with a good sized filter that is sealed from the engine compartment. I have some pics of it on my web site http://geocities.com/rcktpwrd/PT_Thumbs.html about halfway down the page... ---------- Joel

Quote: My Opinion The Airaid.. doesnt help a whole lot ( and neither will the others) BUT sounds great. Only 1 I would buy and if I was to have to start over with a new PT it would still be the 1st mod I did.
So simple a Caveman can install it in 10 mins or less.. Also this one REQUIRES NO sensor relocations. http://www.raceandstreet.net/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code= 300-120&Category_Code=P
Agreed. Get it for the sound because there is no performance gain and they look full race. At least the Airade makes a good attempt to keep the intake from sucking in power robbing hot engine air. ---------- 2005 Stone White SRT4 2004 Graphite Auto

Hey guys, saw your thread and getting an intake put in at clarion Maggie said that the airaid is a good purchase and the sound is great. But true hot air is a bad thing. Is there anything out there to help keep it cool? add a vent in the hood? let me know RPM inferno Rich ---------- RPM Inferno Rich

Hy Rich, the airraid one has a box that comes with it. I am pretty sure the one Maggie has is that one. The Airraid is the one I am gonna get ,because it matches with the Keystone Hood. So the hood seals around the top of the box and makes the scoop functional. ---------- MIDNIGHT CRUISER 2005 Midnight Blue Touring Edition,16 in Dealer Option 5 Spoke Silver Alloys/wYokohama Avid V4s 225/50/16 High Performance Tires. 16 in. The best cold air box is the stock box with the baffle taken out and a larger diameter tube than the stock one that goes to the fender. Then you seal the area where it goes into the fender. I used a 2 inch PVC 90 that I got at the gardening supplies store and a short piece of hose that I managed to get to connect it to the box. Then I took air conditioning foam (1 inch by 1 inch strip) that sticks to the 90 and attached it to the end of the 90 where it goes into the fender well. I saw a web site awhile back that shows this type of setup yields the coolest air at the intake. Also, I can convert the box back to stock in a few minutes if I have to take it in for warranty work... ---------- 2005 Bright Silver Convertible, 5 speed with 8 ball knob, chrome door spears, chrome gas cap door, chrome antenna bezel, chrome grill kit, chrome rear bumper pillows, chrome bumper trim, stainless antenna with flames, stainless door panel trim, chrome smoothies with baby moons, 2" wide "gangster" white walls, chrome tail light trim, K&N air filter element in a modified airbox and an oogah horn. Pull the snorkel off your stock air box and plop in a K&N or Mopar filter. On N/A motors it wont make a difference. and you save money ---------- 04 "SRT-4" PT Cruiser w/ AutoStick (in Sea Mist Green, 1 of 146) Stage 1, Mopar BOV, MagnaFlow 2 1/2 cat back exhaust, MSD black 8.5mm wires, Stock Champion Plugs gapped at .035, S&B Cold air intake, H&R sport springs, Progress 27mm front sway bar, Energy Suspension motor mount inserts, 06' tail lights, 06' Hood emblem, T-handle on rear glass, SRT-4 badges, factory chrome accent group, chrome door cups, 8" Mopar sub, ClearBra. 205/50ZR17 Sumitomo HTRIII tires

Allright Guy's I have been reading about the Air Intake, The Airaid you are recommending is for non Turbos. I ran accross a AFE Pro Dry S Air Intake for turbo, what do you mechanically intelligent Cruisers recommend? I also have another question, but this I have already purchased I hope I made the right choice, but I will have this arriving soo: Vision Motorworks 10.2mm Racing Spark Plug Wires w/ NGK Iridium IX Spark Plugs, I'd also like some feedback on that! ~ Thanks ---------- Crystal~ Life is like road trip & really sweet in a PT Cruiser! #1276

Can't go wrong with the NGK's. I put them in both PTs with notable improvement. Don't know anything about those wires but anything over stock is an improvement. I got the Airaid QuickFit on my Dreamer and on my wifes pulled the white piece out of the lid of the air box and dropped in a K&N. Both provided slight improvement (K&N claims about a 6HP gain just by using their filter). The Quick Fit seals against the hood allowing for air to come through stock location and I think possibly the edge of the hood. That's my 2 sents. ---------- DC1 #1610--5-speed. Its got some stuff. Thanks Sent 1 for the information! I had read previous posts & when I went to race & street the one that was for sale was only for non turbo's, I know that your DCS#2 has a Turbo, so If your wife can install that & it works well...well I guess theres no question about it whether it goes on a non-turbo or a Turbo, Thanks again, Crystal ---------- Crystal~ Life is like road trip & really sweet in a PT Cruiser! #1276

Does anyone have an opinion on the 10.2 mm Vision spark plug racing wires? Are they a good replacement for the factory Turbo spark plug wires? Is 10.2 mm better than 7.5 mm or 8 mm? Thanks, eddieloft ----------
