Wheels decision...

Hi y'all! I'm a new member here, proud owner of a 2004 black Touring PT. I'm now seeking for a nice wheel set and I'd like to have your advises and preferences. Here are some wheels from my first selection: Motegi SX5 black
Maybe a little bit too "simple & black" but damn cheap (115$) Motegi SX5 chrome
Cost more than the black version (155$) , very simple design. And everyone seems to have all chrome wheels... Motegi SP5 black
Better design than the SX5 but not available in 16". I can live with 17" wheels but it's not my first choice comfort-wize. Enkei EM5 black6
Very same look than the Motegi SP5 (the Motegi looks a little bit nicer IMO), available in 16". Black for black, more expensive than the SX5 (150$) Enkei EM5 bronze
Same price than the black version, nice color, bronze looks good on black car but...I don't know... Konig Daylite green
OK, it's a joke... Konig KTune black/chrome
Not that expensive (150$), nice look, same color than the car with a little touch of chrome...
- I personnaly prefer 5 spokes wheels and if I can choose, I'll stay with 16" wheels. Bronze looks nice but I prefer to stay into the original color scheme of the car.
- I don't dislike the chrome but like I said before, everyone seems to have all chrome wheels so I want to be a little bit different.
- I really don't like a silver wheel, it looks like a wheel cover
- I'm a little bit conservative, I don't like too much bling-bling
- No spinner for me, thank you! Nor baby moon. I'm just not into it.
- I want to pay around 150$/wheel, not very more.
So, for all these reasons, I think that we have a winner with the Konig KTune. Or I stay with the Motegi SX5 for the price. Any comments? ----------

But I'm not sure if it's too flashy for my all black PT... Damn...I'm still debating about "flashing vs conservative". This hesitation will kill me one day... Any other inputs? ----------

These are original wheels, don't they? I did take a look for these but they are a little bit expensive. BTW, almost every PT owner have these so I try to be different. Not a bad choice on your own though. BTW, I really think we have a winner here. I'm pretty sure that the best/nicer wheels for me are the Konig KTune. I'll also buy these tires to mount on these wheels.
Step 1 clear! Step 2: I need to choose between horizontal chrome grille overlay OR full chrome grille...I don't like the billet grille myself 'cause I think the fins are too close from each other and this kind of kit is damn expensive.
As usual...the same question remains; staying conservative or going in the bling-bling way. I must admit that I prefer the horizontal only inserts...but who knows?! ----------

K tune is a good. choice. The Falken tire is not. I worked at Big 0 and they carry the same tire just its a Falken 512 or something. They would wear out in about 20K miles of 75MPH free way driving and sometime even less in mountain driving. The Yokohama AS430 is a much better choice which is the YK520 at America's tire. BTW i have never seen a PT Cruiser w/ SRT-4 wheels on it besides mine and i have been to "CruiserFest" several times. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Dodge-Neon-SRT-4-17in-Wheels-Rims_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ43957QQihZ010QQitemZ200215610413QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW Here is a set of SRT 4 wheels on ebay. ---------- 04 "SRT-4" PT Cruiser w/ AutoStick (in Sea Mist Green, 1 of 146) Stage 1, Mopar BOV, MagnaFlow 2 1/2 cat back exhaust, MSD black 8.5mm wires, Stock Champion Plugs gapped at .035, S&B Cold air intake, H&R sport springs, Progress 27mm front sway bar, Energy Suspension motor mount inserts, 06' tail lights, 06' Hood emblem, T-handle on rear glass, SRT-4 badges, factory chrome accent group, chrome door cups, 8" Mopar sub, ClearBra. 205/50ZR17 Sumitomo HTRIII tires

Yeah, I knew that the Falken has a low treadwear rating. But they seems sticky and well reviewed. But there's a price to pay... Maybe I'd go for a higher treadwear tire. What about Pirelli P3000 or even P4? The Yoko seem great but they are damn pricy. ----------

Well that is easy a 205/55r16 will ride nice in an H rated but cost about the same as a 17 does. the speed rating is what effects the price the most. a V, W,Y or Z rated tire will cost more than an h rated tire but it will provide a much better handling tire. Q,R,S,T, and H rated tires will have a comfortable ride (generally speaking) I have 215/50r17 91W Sumitomo htr+ on my Pt w/ the 17's and they ride fine and My PT is lowered. The Pirelli P4 is a good tire i have a set on my other wheels they lasted my 20kmiles in the 205/50r17 93HXL's. They have 1 more summer left on them. But at the end of the day you have to get what you like and what fits in your pocket book. I give up a little bt in ride to save money. For the best ride Buy a Michelin. Check out Tire Rack as well. they have a terrific web site that will help you do easy research into tires. 17's http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Compare1.jsp?sortValue=0&resultsNumberSelected=Y&displayResults=10&compare=true&compareList=&RunFlat=All&goWhere=%252Ftires%252FCompare1.jsp&sortCode= &width=215%2F&ratio=50&diameter=17&startIndex=0 16's http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Compare1.jsp?sortValue=0&resultsNumberSelected=Y&displayResults=10&compare=true&compareList=&RunFlat=All&goWhere=%252Ftires%252FCompare1.jsp&sortCode= &width=205%2F&ratio=55&diameter=16&startIndex=0 ---------- 04 "SRT-4" PT Cruiser w/ AutoStick (in Sea Mist Green, 1 of 146) Stage 1, Mopar BOV, MagnaFlow 2 1/2 cat back exhaust, MSD black 8.5mm wires, Stock Champion Plugs gapped at .035, S&B Cold air intake, H&R sport springs, Progress 27mm front sway bar, Energy Suspension motor mount inserts, 06' tail lights, 06' Hood emblem, T-handle on rear glass, SRT-4 badges, factory chrome accent group, chrome door cups, 8" Mopar sub, ClearBra. 205/50ZR17 Sumitomo HTRIII tires

I almost bought a set of the Motegi SX5 black for my silver Touring. Black wheels look sharp, and make the car standout in a quiet sort of way. Be sure to post pics and all of the specs of what you get.

Funny that you mentioned the Yokahama YK520. I just put a set of them (225/50/16) on my PT last week and love them. They hold the road like they're glued to it and the curves are more fun. Tires are rated at 68,000. BTW, my vote is for the Konig KTune wheels. Those would look great on a black PT. ---------- If it's gonna happen - it's gonna happen out there.

Haven't used Pirelli's. Had a set of Michelins on an '85' Chyrsler Laser that came with it new when I bought it. Got over 100,000 miles from them before I sold the car. I've got a winter set of wheels with Arizonans on them that I bought a Discount Tire a few years ago. They've got a really nice tread pattern on them, still look almost new and didn't break the bank. ---------- If it's gonna happen - it's gonna happen out there.

I am new to this, but I have been noticing that a lot of the rims I see around have very little "coverage". Personally, I don't like that. I would prefer something like this on my Cruiser: http://www.tperformance.com/street_rod_store/wheels/centerline_wheels-convo_pro/ But, that is just me. ----------

I finally got (ordered) the Konig's KTune + Pirelli P4
I've also touched up the paint chips with factory paint (using a little "artist" brush, not the "as big as a broom" included brush) + Mopar bugshield
+ Mopar smoked rear spoiler
As soon as I can reach the seller, I'll order these TYC tail lights
+ A set of Xenon bulbs
+ A set of yellowish 100w fog bulbs
I'm looking for a sunroof deflector too...I just haven't found the right model yet. And I think about painting the headlights in black (but it seems to be a lot of job) All this on a black 2004 Touring Edition.
Edit: I bought a K&N drop in too. The plugs + wires will follow soon. ----------
