I've just signed up for a simple chat room that we are looking at for the Southwest site. It's very basic, but the price is right (free). If you'd like to test it and give me some feedback I'd appreciate it. The link is http://egotpt.community.everyone.net/community/scripts/directory.pl The service consists of forums with chat rooms associated with each subject. I've only setup one so far and the right column of the forum is where you look to see how many chatters are logged in and you enter from there as well. Let me know what you think... I agree with Bubbles, There's already a chat room for members, why should free-loaders who are too cheap to pay $39 be allowed to have the fun of chatting at my expense. I would be in favor of a 30 day grace period, but after 30 days you have to become a member ....or hit the road. There's way too many people in this country looking for a free hand-out already.

Dannymac, I believe you are way out of line in your comments. It is unfair for you to judge others and call them cheap for not paying $39 a year. For some it may be a big expense. Some think $39 is to much to pay every year. It is all a matter of opion. There are a lot of members, and they do not visit the chat room very often. The public chat room was a lot of fun, for members and non-members alike. There were as many members in the public chat room as there were non-members. I am glad Mike is working on opening the public chat. In the long run it is very good for this club.

I understand $39 might be a bit much for some people, but if you take advantage of the 10% discount we get from Wycoff and our local dealers for being members it pays for itself.
I don't mean to be the bad guy, but there are other sites/groups that you can go to to chat about the PTC for free... So why should my $39 pay for others to chat? Just my 2 cents. ------------------ ~Lolly & RubyGirl~

I believe the public chat room is/was/is a good thing. Not all State Directors agree with me. One of the problems I saw myself in the public chat room among several things was, those people that were... to put it mildly... JERKS!!!!!! that need a spanking like any kid acting like that... No need for that in any chat room. There is no need for fowl language in a chat room OR a forum post. Those that want to bash the PT.... stay out.. If yo dont like our beloved PT Cruiser... do not come in the chat room just to "stir" it up. We dont care what youthink to start with. I am one that even likes the Aztec. (drove one last week) There are 3 Aztecs in town and only my PT. I wouldnt get on the Aztec site and call it a piece of crap. And of course those that just get in the room to create hate and discontent. That is not needed, and thanks to PTCCMike.. it wont happen. If you cant behave yourselves you cant play together. Even the members room gets a little scary.... I had a GREAT TIME in the public room. I think the registraion process is a good way to stop and control the "jerks" that do not need to be in any room much less a PT room. And YES there has to be some type of control. Just to protect me if no one else. Because I am a sensitive type of guy. I want to have fun in a chat room and if the subject of a PT Cruiser comes up.. even better. I would like to see everyone in the members room..... but I dont think we need to force someone to join just so they can chat with other PT Cruiser nuts. So ther is my 2 cents worth. Some like it hot, some dont.

We all got started here on the PTCC site, with the public chat. I would chat in the members room, but when I am on, there seems to be no body in there. It didn't seem to matter what time of the day you logged in with the public chat, there was always some one there to talk to. Besides, we are very biased here, no other sites compares to this one!! This is the site we all want to be!! And I think you would be saprized to find out how many non-members are in here. And they have become friends, and friendships developed in the chat room, and then everyone was cut off. It was a bummer. So now the forum has become a sort of chat room. It is a place to keep in touch, share experiences and also information. It would be nice to be able to do this in a public chat. This is a great site, and we need to open a public chat to all those who are members and non-members.

The AL Gore post above is a PRIME EXAMPLE of why threads get deleted and no public chat room.
