CheeringHI Crystal, Good, you need to keep checking this thread, as these two weirdos make fun of where I live. Kansas is about the same. We are called flat landers. Back to gas, $3.04 for Ethanol Additive and $3.24 for what I use regular unleaded. I feel bad that I can't use Ethanol, helps our farmers out on the north forty.
When I start my own Nebraska club, I will give you all a tour of our nice flat country side. It is real easy on cars. A straight shot to Indian County, where the buffalo run free. The REDSKINS ( no offense to my blood brothers as I am a quarter) don't worry about the price of gas much. NICE PEOPLE. JUST THINK THE FOUR OF US CAN PASS THE PEACE PIPE.

Maybe you guy's can make some of that kansas corn oil stuff (Ethenol)and add that to your tank .I hear you guy's have plenty of it out there. Corn that is. No body seems to know just how much Ethenol cost but Uncle Sam is paying the oil companies 52 c a gallon to use it. maybe if they gave us the 52 c we'd both make out.

Re: [silvereagle] Why does nebraska have the highest gas prices? Can't Post

Being from New Orleans originally, I wouldn't know anything about those high altitude flat landers. Wink

Gas still holding at $282 here. Have seen some in the $2.93 area, but those are stations with no competition (and not many customers for some reason). I used to use "Gas-a-hol" back in the 80's without any problems in 100K miles, but some said it caused problems and I think the gas prices came down enough it wasn't economical any more. What you would really love to use is 100 LL (Low Lead) Av Gas. It's expensive, but it's blue!

Cheers

Cheering Hi Terry, I didn't think any state was flatter than us but you are a sub- flatlander, I believe. That is getting down. Seriously, I hope New Orleans is back to what it used to be, only better. It seems like a cool place and I bet I would love Mardi Gras. Price of gas still the same here. The blue gas I would love. Is it Electric Blue or Midnight blue, that difference is huge as I would imagine that Midnight Blue would have a bit of sludge in it, don't you? LOL- JUST TEASING YOU MC, MICKEYCheersCheers

Re: [MICKEY41] Why does nebraska have the highest gas prices? Can't Post

New Orleans is coming back, especially the area I'm from (just outside New Orleans in Metairie). The gas prices there are actually less than here by about 5-10 cents (I guess cause they don't have to drill as far when you start below sea level). Lots of PT Cruisers down there, too.

The avgas is just described as "blue," but it is a light blue and no pearl flake. Spent a lot of time looking at that stuff in little containers, checking for water or contaminents before jumping in a plane. It's so hard to find a good towing service when you pull over with junk in your carb at 5000 feet. Dance

CheeringHi Terry, I would have to have that blue gas as Pete would be blue inside and out, how cool would that be? I got gas today for $3.04 but was way more than that. I was worried about my tires as on of those things, that are on the end of your valve stem- a cap- or whatever, it was too tight and I couldn't get it off so I only needed a quarter tank so it was worth it to go to full service- for me anyway, Love it. So this old dude comes out and I watched him and only one of them needed 2 ?? (was 33 and supposed to be 35). So anyway I paid almost 20 bucks. Then I am cruisin' home and this man is frantically waving at me and I think finally someone loves Pete. He kept pointing and I about died so pulled over and that old dude left my cap hanging and my gas door open. I am going back there tomorrow and get some free gas!!!What if someone threw a cigarette in there- have you ever? MickeyBow

I hope the gas cap didn't scratch things up while it was bouncing around in the breeze. Gas here is down to $2.79 as of this evening. Where I get gas is still $2.84, but I have 1/2 tank and they will probably drop tomorrow. Full service? I think there may be one place around here that still has that.

Re: [TerryR] Why does nebraska have the highest gas prices? Can't Post

Hi Everyone,

Down here in Northern N.M. gas is now at $3.41 per gallon.

Does anyone have thoughts on this: I find that our gas is different than the other states. Here in N.M., our octane levels are a notch lower per price than places such as Colorado. Our Regular is 86 octane, Plus (Mid-Range) is 88 octane, and Premium (Ethel) is 90 octane. In Colorado Regular gas is 87 octane.

Do any other states have weird octane levels like N.M.?

"Your vehicle uses 87 octane gasoline."ROFL Yea, right! Over here we are forced to pay for plus to get octane that is higher than what is recommended because regular gas octane is too low. However, when gas flares up to $3.99, there is no escape from putting regular gas.

Well, my favorite "Blue" gas station is down to $2.81, but the red gas station is at $1.78. In fact, multiple red gas stations are at $1.78 and $.179, except for the red and black gas station. Must be something with the color of the station. Cheers

CheeringHI TERRY, THANK YOU for the concern you show for Pete. She was was not scratched, thank goodness. I called the station when I got home from work and asked to talk to the manager. I explained what happened and told the manager- that old dude you had pumping gas. He says , "Well I am that old dude", then what you do, I end up apologizing and never did get a one free gallon. I always screw everything up! But at least we didn't get blow up, always look at the positive side. Mickey Cheers

CheeringWell, gas continues to climb for us, Corn Belt people. I went to Lincoln and had to get gas on the interstate, 3.09 but ethanol made from our good old abundent corn, 2.99. Wonder why ethanol hurts our cars. I always used it in my Festiva. Most people do use ethanol additive here. I go back to Lincoln tomorrow and then onto Omaha and I bet the gas is even higher. It just continues to rise. MICKEYWave

Wow! I'm glad I live in Missouri! I filled today at $2.58/gallon. I wince when it goes over 3 bucks. I heard that St. Louis had the lowest gas price in the nation.

Re: [i_like_retro] Why does nebraska have the highest gas prices? Can't Post

Found my new favorite "blue" gas station. Most of the stations I was seeing around our town were $2.63 - $2.66. I decided to try one I saw with a cheaper price down the highway. The price there was $2.54! I'm told there are some others in the local Montgomery, AL area that have $2.49.

Of course, there is tropical activity in the Gulf and a tropical storm expected to be a hurricane entering the Gulf next week. So gas prices will go back up speculating on the Gulf platforms shutting down. Glad I just filled up!

CheeringHey Gas Guzzlers, today I rushed to get gas, 2.84 as that is as low as it has been in months and it will probably climb to over three dollars again, I bet. They will blame it on the rain in Texas or the hurricane, they always have excuses.

Terry, glad you are keeping those blue stations open. Had any blue bird do do lately? MICKEY Bow

I just put gas today, fearing that the hurricane will cause some sort of spike in prices. Here in NM gas is $3.24 per gallon. I would welcome any gas under $3.00 per gallon any day.

Cheering HI SILVER EAGLE, I wonder if gas prices are more reasonable going south? I will have to check it out when I go to Bartlesville and maybe on to OKC. I do not understand it yet, why ours is so high. They blamed it on the flooding in Kansas. Have to check out Kansas prices. MICKEY Flag USA

It's all supply and demand. .Here on the east coast we have a lot of refinery's and shipping from the Middle East , right in my back yard. Sunoco has five refinery's with in twenty miles of each other. It started out with just one then they bought out Chevorn, then Gulf,Then Eagle pointand and one other.
