Hello, it's me again. Thanks for all the insight on the PT Cruiser. Had questions about the wind bar that Military Car Sales people can't answer. Does the wind bar also serve as a roll bar, if for some reason you were to roll it? Not that I plan on being crazy, (wheel base seems wide and seems like it wouldn't be top heavy at all...I assume you would have to be going mighty fast right?) I can't find anything in the booklets (they only have 05 booklets BTW here) and internet on whether or not it has that role at all. I understand it is sort of part of the frame or keeps the frame more stable and keeps some wind out of the carriage, but in a moderate rollover would it cave in or hold up? Jeez I would hate to think of it caving in... ----------

From Consumer Reports: "The PT has a faux rollbar (it does not provide rollover protection)." ----------

It may not be strong enough to be a true roll bar, but it is strong enough that the upper seat belt anchors are attached to it.... ----------

It can not legally be called a "rollbar" by DC, but it, along with the special reinforced windshield frame, (used to strengthen the body), will protect the passengers in the event of a rollover, I have seen one at the body shop that rolled down an embankment at least 2 maybe 3 times, (as told to me by the insurance adjuster who was looking at my wife's PT after being hit in the rear), the bar was scratched very badly but not bowed or bent out of shape & the windshield was cracked but the frame was not bent either. So it should give you piece of mind that it will help in the event a rollover should ever happen. ---------- '05 GT Dream Cruiser Series 4. No.1109 My Mods PT Trailer Project Our PTs

It's other function is to sort of cone the airflow a bit to keep things to a minimum. Also is nifty for the kids to hang on before buckling up and embarking on a ride through the mountains of NJ. ---------- 2005 Touring Edition Convertible Turbo 2.4L LITE Automatic, cool vanilla, faux Street Edition badging, K&N drop in filter, modded airbox, mini-chrome side flames, chrome gas cap cover, customized rear mud flaps, flying siberian husky fur when top dropped.
