It's sad that PT Cruiser Convertible had only two seats usefull. I think that Crysler should have make a version for four or five adults. What's your opinion? Bruja from Spain ----------

ummm valid point, but then this is a small car and would have required a complete re engineering of the entire vehicle which would have been quite costly......most convertibles by their nature with a retractable top have limited back seat room save for the Sebring which was built from the start to be a true four person car from the git go. Since the production Cruiser is really just an adaption of the basic car as it is now I can see why there wont be a totally useable back seat. But the current VW Cabriolet doesnt have much of a back seat either so guess this isnt really a serious drawback. Think most folks who buy a Cruiser convertible wouldnt use it for a family hauler anyways cause it isnt really designed for that: it is really intended to be just a sport convertible. Maybe when the next generation Cruiser comes along it will be designed with this in mind and will really have a useable back seat. Compared to the Crossfire the new convertible will be absolutely spacious, That car (Crossfire) gave me a serious case of claustrophobia when I sat in one.... like sitting in a tuna fish can. So I think we can live with the convertible more than likely......Have a great day! ----------

Has anyone SEEN a convertible yet to see if the back seats will fit two adults? I've only seen pictures so far and will reserve judgement until I can see the real deal. But then, I took the back seats out of my Cruiser, so I only have a two-passenger car anyway. ----------

ummm have seen the prototype Cruiser convertible in person and it seems to me that the back seats would and I say would accomodate a smallish adult or several children. by no means are they going to fit a six footer like myself especially with the top up......hence I would consider them only serviceable for large adults for a very short ride. However, this car will really be a fun car and I think the backseat problem is not a major drawback only if you have a large family. If I buy one it will be a second car just for Sunday jaunts and the like. If Im taking three or four guests then Id use the regular Cruiser that I have instead. Have a great day. Personally I cant wait till the convertible is available and I do hope that it is available in Graphite with the five speed non turbo engine ........ ----------

Just got back from the Block Party and was very pleased to find the back seat of the convertable just as comfortable as my 2001. Ease of entry and exit was very good. I did notice that there were two different back seats in two different convertables. The one that you had your picture taken with had a very vertical back seat that looked very uncomfortable. I can only assume that the white one outside was the later version. It was great. I can't wait to get mine. It going to be just like the first time waiting to be able to order and then waiting for my new PT to arrive. Sure hope the wait is not as long as the first time. ----------

Have only seen the prototype model, havent seen an actual pre production car yet. Maybe at the DC auto Show next month. Local dealers arent taking orders yet as of this past week, maybe in December they will. Production is supposed to start in January of 2004, and by the time they do the rental fleet cars and iron out any last minute quality problems we will actually see them in March. Will be interesting to watch as to availability and if any price goughing occurs like on the first PT model several years ago. I for one am NOT going to pay a premium if I get one believe me. Have a great day! ----------

What color are you getting????? The white one at the Block Party looked NICE! I would only get a convertible if it came with a "hard top". Am I correct to say that the convertible being sold by Chrysler only has a soft top???? Rumor has it, that an aftermarket hardtop will be available... What I want is a Sea Mist Green one with a white top, 5 speed, and 220 hp. Who knows what will be available. Guess I'll find out in January. I really don't care about a hard top. I drove a Sebring convertible and it had very little wind noise. And what the hey, the top will be down most of the time anyhow. ----------

Can the back seats of an '05 convertible actually be taken out? (and put back in when needed...) ----------

I don't know about the 05 but you can take the 06 out. It really looks better in though. When the seats are removed it looks like they never finished the work. ---------- big jim

Yes, but it requires removing 4 bolts from the seat hinges and the seat belt bolt in the side panel. I removed them when I replaced the speakers in the rear panels. ----------

I'm with you. We've had own purple ragtop for almost two years. Even my 6 foot plus twin sons are comfortable in the back seat. The older posts are just a hoot. I've only found one problem with the ragtop. My cigars burn a little unevenly at 70mph. ----------

YES YES taking the seats out is no big deal. You have to take one bolt out on each side, it is a strap thing. There are 4 small plastic things over the front hinges that need to come off. They just pull off. kind of spread the back of them and just pull forward. When you have done the above the seats just roll forward and lift out. ----------

my 05 back seat is great. Lots of leg room, and very comfortable for two adults. Now what about the trunk? wish it opened down instead of up. Oh would life be perfect then lol ----------

Yep, ideally the trunk lid should have opened down - for tailgating!! But, this overall car is about as good a convertible as you can get. Me and my family went for a cruise yesterday and it was so nice. ----------

Sweet idea, you should invent an aftermarket accessory. Needs large, oversized hinges that go over the bumper and may take up room in the trunk or involve some finagleing that may be too difficult than its worth. Reinforce the bottom half to accomodate for the weight of some, you know... Can't be muchdifferent than a Suburu station wagon? You got me thinking about hot dogs and baseball. Damn that would be sweet, listening to "Let it Ride" while sittin on tailgate of a cruiser. ----------
