Why can't Chrysler fix it?? After replacing the cam sensor, it is still unrelyable! The first time we drove 50 miles and it cut out to the rev limiter. The next time we drove for 3 weeks! Now after the dealer having it for 3 days, they don't know how to fix it. They want me to leave it with them until it cuts out again. ??????????? HMMMMMM doesn't make sense to me. No loan car of course but I can get a RENTAL from them. Could be 1 day or it could be a month. They can't/won't help. Any ideas out there?? Mark ----------

First off i would like to tell ya that i feel your pain.. haha. Same stuf has happend to me on some other vehicles that i have driven and trust me it get's to the point you want to start shooting. It's not that they can't fix it. It's just hard to find a problem when the problem ain't there. Theres probably an engine light but it could be something for a random missfire or something. Some codes get triggered from other parts that cause them to go bad. The code that there getting is probably no ignition signal from cam sensor. It could be a sensor, could be a broken wire to the pcm or could even be a pcm. The only way that there going to be able to find it is by havin the problem it self. Stay on them.. call them often and just make sure there lookin. Is it a newer model that is still on warranty. If not try bringing it to a trust worthy mechanic. Sometimes they'll be more honest and sometimes they might have seen it in an older model and different vehicle and might know were to start lookin. Hopefully it won't cost you a big $$... but i'm sure you'll be on your way. ----------

When you think about it, the majority of work done at dealerships is warranty work on nearly new cars. After the warranty runs out, the owner usually starts going to a private shop where the labor rates are 30-50% less and parts are more competitively priced. The result is that dealerships don't see a lot of problems that tend to show up as the cars age, and odd-ball problems can really baffle them. This may not be the case here, but it may be. When I took my PT in for leaky throwout bearing under warranty, the service writer checked the flat rate and said it would take about a day. It ended up taking two mechanics almost four days to put it back together, plus in the process they crushed a cruise control cable and I had to take it back later for that repair. It turns out, the shop had never changed a clutch in a PT before. Makes sense, since most are automatics anyway, plus the 5-speeds rarely need work during the warranty period. BTW, this isn't a little podunk dealer with a half dozen service bays. They are a very large 5-star dealer who also has 7 other brand locations around town. ----------

I know were your commin from.. some dealerships like the one we have here is a 5-star dealer but sometimes i have to question the ability of there work. We don't do much work to some vehicles too but were usualy pretty close to flat rate. If it would call for 8 hours then it usually won't take much more then 10 maybe 11 hours for us to do the job. One of my buddy's worked at the dealer here and he was telling me that in most cases they, for many reasons, would put off a job (warranty) to fix something that would make then some money. A clutch job through chrysler's flat rate system is 5.1hrs. But for warranty chrysler might just give then 4.5hrs. There for they would more then likely lose out on labour and so something at the time to make then some $$. I know my dealership here will do something to save some $$ or make some $$ if they can. ----------
