Had this exact problem last week. Added brake fluid to the Full line and haven't had it since. It wasn't very low; maybe an eight to quarter inch below the line, but I guess that's enough to trip the sensor when you're starting on a hill etc. quote: Originally posted by MiataJake: Sounds to me your brake fluid is low.

that is also a sign that it is time to check the pads and rotors for wear and it is probably time do do a brake job... ---------- Joel

I had the same problem. It seems there is not much room for error. When its just a tablespoon low it shows up as low. I had to have new brakes put on. The rotors were worn down already to the metal. It didn't even have 28,000 yet. That just shows you that they put very cheap material on these when they come out of the factory. I upgraded to ceramics and premiun rotors. Cost was over $400 just for the front. ---------- Were are we going and why am I in this handbasket?

It is odd but....when the emergency brake light goes on you NEED TO CHANGE YOUR pads...before th edrums get chewed do it ASAP! If you just put fluid in, 2 weeks form now it will go low again and light will come on. ---------- 2005 Touring Edition Convertible Turbo 2.4L LITE Automatic, cool vanilla, faux Street Edition badging, K&N drop in filter, modded airbox, mini-chrome side flames, chrome gas cap cover, customized rear mud flaps, flying siberian husky fur when top dropped.

it's not necessarily just the pads that are worn... it might be the rotors that are worn also. I recently did the brakes on mine, the car had about 35,000 miles on it and the brake light was just starting to come on intermittently. When I took it apart, the pads still had about half of their material left (on all 4 corners of the car) but there was a noticeable amount of wear on the rotors... Also a brake job on the PT is fairly easy to do... ---------- Joel

Um, bad pads cause the rotors to wear....it starts with the pad rubbing into the meat of the rotor cause the pad is gone. But the usual warning sign is not a red light on the hand brake!!!! What a wierd thing. It is usual a squeaking sound which is intentionally done for the owner to hear and take care..oh well ---------- 2005 Touring Edition Convertible Turbo 2.4L LITE Automatic, cool vanilla, faux Street Edition badging, K&N drop in filter, modded airbox, mini-chrome side flames, chrome gas cap cover, customized rear mud flaps, flying siberian husky fur when top dropped.
