how many conv. have been sold Can't Post

Being the proud owner of a 2005 GT ragtop, the first in my town, I'm curious, how many has DC sold? I don't see many of them and I'm in sunny California.

Re: [Capt Kidd] how many conv. have been sold Can't Post

Hi, and congrats on your new convertible. I have a new one too...three months old. I think of my car as an antidepressant on wheels. I call it the Joymobile. I live in Houston, and we have had the BEST and LONGEST spring here! I think it's in honor of me and my new car. I am so envious of you driving a convertible around in California, my favorite place to vacation. We visit the Monterrey Peninsula annually, usually in January. I was thinking just recently about how much I love my car and how a vacation would not seem like a vacation without driving IT. Since I don't really have time to drive from Houston to California each year, I am hoping that SOME smart leasing company will start leasing these for vacationers. THere simply is not a happier car around, as far as I can tell. Mine is the mid range turbo, and it has PLENTY of pickup and go for little old me. I leave everyone else sitting at the light and hit cruising speed in a heartbeat. I'd probably end up on the moon if I accelerated yours! Have fun with that! My Golden Retriever, River, my husband, and I live to drive lately. I have no idea how many have been sold, but NOT ENOUGH! I don't see many in Houston, either. Maybe 5 or 6 in 3 months. We always honk and wave at each other when I see another one. Thumbs up! WE KNOW how much fun we're having!!! I love the way it's brought so much more nature into our lives...sunsets and clouds, stars at night, birds chirping at every stoplight. And driving by a local bakery when they are making cinnamon rolls is pretty awesome. The negatives are bus fumes, (avoid at all costs), and whatever nasty smells you might occasionlly encounter. I also encourage DC to rethink the trunk so that it opens from a hinge at the bottom instead of the top. I transport my 90 year old mom around in it and hoist her wheelchair into that trunk. I have to tumble the seats forward to fit it in, but it works. There are no negatives that could convince me to ever drive anything else. I LOVE MY CAR!!!!!!!!

PS...I wash it myself twice a week!!!

I got a 05 GT convertible last year and have loved it. I think they are an incredible value compared to other convertibles. I don't know how many DC has made.

I can't vouch for the base units or the limited models, but here is the info from Chrysler on the '05 GT Convertible, including the Dream Cruiser Series 4, of which there were 1548 built.

Dear Raymond:

Thank you for your recent email to DaimlerChrysler Motors Corporation
regarding production figures for 2005 Chrysler PT Cruisers.

Unfortunately the number of automatic versus manual transaxles for the
2005 Dream Cruiser Series 4 is not available. The numbers for the 2005
PT Cruiser GT Convertibles, however, are 2,991 automatic transaxles and
479 manual transaxles.

Thank you again for your email.

Sincerely,

Wow, only 479 manuals per year? I just ordered a 2006 Convertible GT manual trans; instant collectors item at those numbers!

Any 05 is a unique item to me as this is the only year where you get the original cool grill on a vert!

Sorry, but the 06' has the all new interior and new front and rear fasicas and will be built through 09'(from the rumor mill) that way. Your car will be one of thousands produced. Now the 05, as stated, is the rare one. The original front/rear and interior in the vert was only made for 1 year. I'm one of 28 made like mine!

You can email them through DC website to find out about your car, but I wouldn't bother unless you really think you've got a rare piece. i.e. an 05 GT manual trans vert'

Mine has the AutoStick but is one of the few '05s with the 2006 230 hp engine with plastic intake. Now, a 2005 ragtop with the '06 engine and 5 spd - that would be rare.

I think that our 06 Marine Blue is an Amazing Convertible. It actually gets the mileage in the city as it is rated at. 21. Compared to my 01 it's a dream to drive. .Of course there will be some extra's added. I had one young girl pull up to me last week in an 05 Convertible and she looked at Cruzrs PT. (our Convertible ) and put her noise up in the air and drove off and waved her middle finger at me.

I have an electric blue 05 convertible, not that rare here in sunny FL. I see them everywhere! We Floridians do love the wind in our hair and the sunshine to go with it! Happy Cruisin everyone! Dance Teddi a.k.a. BlueHaze
