Not very cool for a newbie to show up and start calling people names. You say Chrysler says the PT is based off the Neon? I say show me something official from Chrysler. We blew off this debate 7 years ago.
Same engine= same car? ROFL
Better to remain silent and be thought an idiot then to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

The PT Cruiser was not based on the Neon.
When the PT Cruiser came out it shared 18% neon parts.

The Neon had nothing to do with the design conceptualization of the PT Cruiser. I met the designer Bryan Nesbitt in person, we went to dinner together, he told me all about it. He let me borrow his PT Cruiser for a weekend for the first PT Test drive report ever published on the internet in March 2000.
I met the interior designer also.

"Neon and PT Cruiser are two distinctly different vehicles and you can't combine or compare the two," Knott said. "They are of two distinctly different platforms. The reality is the two vehicles share more in process than parts or design. Much of the early VR technology we used on PT Cruiser came from knowledge we gained on the 2000 Neon program. We were able to solve unique issues because of what we learned and that early information sharing is what saved so much time."
said Dan Knott, Director, Vehicle Development, Chrysler Small Car Platform Engineering.

This argument is already discussed here and debunked in the year 2000.

Myth Busted, use the forum to search if you want to learn for yourself. Thread closed.
