Yeah...tried WD. Maybe it's not getting in there far enough. How much trouble is it to just replace the whole thing?

Are you sure the problem is with the latch? When you pry on the latch to release it, is there tension in the cable? Not that I'm saying the problem is not with the latch, but just make sure that IS the problem before replacing it.

Check the spring on the inside of the latch. .Then check the top piece to see if it is lined up properly. I had this problem once when I'd change my hoods around.

Yes, it does seem that there is tension in the cable. I will try to adjust things and see what happens.
