Well, I've put about 50k on my stock tires and it's time to replace them prior to winter hitting here in good ole Michigan. I've done a lot of reading and a lot of browsing forums and still can not figure out what would be best for my 03 GT... so I'm looking for help from you guys! ----------

Check out the Nokian WR all weather tires. Great all around tire in dry wet and awesome in snow. Little pricey but a 50K warranty. ---------- 03 Electric Blue GT 5 Speed S1, Quaife, Hurst and other goodies. 14.3 @96.31

We ran a new set of Pirelli P6's last Winter, and they have done very well in all conditions we've come across in 7000 miles or so (a good all-season performer). Thanks. I'll check those out.. I've been looking at the Kumho ECSTA ASX's so far. Judging from everything I've read, almost any tire is better than the OE ones. With tread warranty is it really worth it to get one that has it? ----------

These Goodyear RSAs are BADYears. There used to be a time backwhen the Badyears were Goodyears but lately Badyear can't seem to produce a descent tire. I bought Falken ZE 512s (215/50R17) on the stock rims and they are great tires. Very happy. RSAs have no wet traction for sure. Of course mine went practically bald after 48,000 km. Heck, when I bought the car this past February it had 44,000 km and the tires were junk then. P.S. The tread pattern on RSAs was gross looking. ---------- The photo in the avatar is me back when I weighed 720 lbs. Today I'm beyond 1000.

I run a 225/45/17 though with a aftermarket wheel.. The Goodyears scared me silly about 5 years ago now on my N/A PT. all it took was one stretch of freeway I drove everyday in the rain I knew that stretch of road I could tell you where all the bumps and turns are. I started to hydroplane going in a straight line got it back and ditched those tires within two weeks.. Never got scared like that again. ----------

You are absolutely right about the "wet" traction! & that is even with traction mode on! As I was traveling back from Claremore it was pouring down rain! Began to hydroplain kept the wheel straight & then slowed it waaay down! Definately convinced this is my first priority before the snow hits! ---------- Crystal~ Life is like road trip & really sweet in a PT Cruiser! #1276

Quote: How the hell did you get 50K on the original tires on a GT!!? I have 54K on my original Goodyear RSA'a. The tread depth indicator is about to level out with the treads. I've never had a flat, no problematic slipping or hydroplaning, and no complaints. And I drive like a bat outta hell ALL the time. Best OEM tires I've ever had. Not saying they're good or great performance tires, just saying they've been good and have lasted my lead foot and hard driving. For the suspicious minds: My last vehicle with OEM's was a '93 Explorer with Firestones. Of course they were replaced with Bridgestones some time back. Of course, the spare is an original dreaded Firestone. Sold the Explorer to the ex-wife. Hahahaaaaa. Regards! ---------- Intense Blue Pearl... My first set of OEM Goodyear tires were gone in 60 Seconds. (15k). I am doing much better with my Traction TA's (20K still look new). Just didn't think the OEM Goodyear's would last much past 30K. ----------

I was the same way, but let me tell you.. I put on a new set of Yokohama YK520 from Discount Tire and wow.. what a difference in handling, performance, and noise. I'm in love with these things so far (2k miles on them). ----------

Glad to hear SOMEBODY say something good about GoodYears. They have been my tire of choice for many years - without any prolems. I've only got 15K miles on the Eagles 'on my 01, so I don't really know HOW they are going to hold up in the long run. At this rate, they may dry rot before they wear out. I like the story about selling the Ford "Exploder" to your ex-wife. As I always say, "I miss my ex-wife -- but my aim is getting better". ----------

I'm in love with these things so far (2k miles on them). Oh yeah, I'm looking forward to new tires. I'm hoping to make it through the winter with this set. I have big and ambitious plans to completely upgrade the entire suspension and braking with high end performance products. I've always had a preference for Bridgestone and Uniroyal. Unfortunately, Uniroyal doesn't have a tire for the PT/GT and Bridgestone only has a winter tire, the Blizzak. I would love the Yokohama Advan A048's but I live in the upper midewest and snow is my enemy. These badboys are bringing the proverbial knife to a gunfight. Thankfully, it appears Yokohama has many varieties to please my preferences. This reminds me of my Direct TV. Too many choices, not enough time. Regards! ---------- Intense Blue Pearl... I couldn't wait to get rid of the CRAPyears on my PT..Mine were the stock 195-65-15's though and even brand new they slipped in the rain...and I'm not driving a turbo...At about 15,000 miles I had enough. Bought some 17''s off ebay that came with Nankang 1's..pretty good tire...sidewalls a little too soft, couldn't hold up to SoCal's potholes...so I switched to Fuzion ZRi's...Awesome tire and VERY affordable...Sidewalls are strong and the handling is GREAT! These have to be the best tires I have ever had...and I have paid much more for supposedly better tires....they were not.. These things hold the road very well. My only complaint it they are a little loud, but the wider the tire the more you hear...I am running 225/45/17 front and 245/40/17 rear....I love the look and ride.. Later... ----------

I just went with some Michelin X-Ice for winter (205/16R/50). They are phenomenal winter tires, highly recommended. I will try out some Falken FK-451's or 452's for performance tires in the summer (225/45ZR/17). ---------- 2005 GT Vert, Autostick, Stage 1, MaxxFab 3" O2 Housing and Downpipe with Magnaflow Hi-Flow Cat, Custom Dynomax Ultraflow Exhaust System, Plastic Manafold, AGP WGA, AMX1397TTAB w/Apollo CAI, AGP UCP w/Greddy RS BOV, TurboXS MBC, Mopar BOP, Autometer Boost Guage, MSD Wires, NGK Iridiums gapped at .028, Turbo Timer, Upper and Lower Prothane Motor Mount Inserts, DCR Oil Flow Modifier, Chrome Appearance Package.
