what is my power now??????????

I am new here and would like to get others view on where I am and what now. what is power now and what next. Kn performance intake, BTG down pipe and converter, mopar 2 1/2 cat back, screaming demon coil, iridium plugs and wires, jet chip stage 2, mopar blow off valve, and to start with 04 gt turbo. progressive sway bars front and back, tower brace bar. I think a mopar stage 1 is the next step I was really wanting a stage 2 but does not seem that mopar thinks that the pt does not need this even though the pt is as much a srt4 as the neon. Sea mist green with many dress ups as well. Thanks for any comments ---------- 2ndsrt

Intake - 2-3 hp Downpipe, Converter (?) & Mopar exhaust - 3-5 hp BUT you get faster turbo spool so you get to power quicker. Screamin Demon Coil - 0 hp Plugs and wires - 0 hp Jet Chip S2 - I heard these weren't very good. You'll see more power and better performance with Stage 1- 5 hp Blow off valve - 0 hp So maybe 233+ hp at the crank. Maybe 200 + or - whp Stage 2 for the PT turbo was never released because of the auto tranny. The auto could never handle the power and would fail. I know people with Stage 1 who are having tranny problems and people running Stage 2 numbers and higher with aftermarket parts are doing worse. That's not to say you will have auto tranny problems with Stage 1 but it is a possibility. I had a modified 5 speed '03 GT running around 280 hp at the crank and now have a modified 300+ hp '05 SRT-4 and believe me they are not the same thing. They may share the same engine but that's it. Don't get me wrong, I loved my GT and it was fast as he!! but the SRT-4 was made for speed. I only traded in the GT for the SRT-4 because '05 was the last year for the Neon SRT. Wish I still had the GT, too. Stage 1 is a great building block for more power. How far you want to go for power? I got friends running 350 - 400 hp in GT's. ---------- 2005 Stone White SRT4 2004 Graphite Auto

Those SRT cherokee's are sick! Yeah, just leave the PT for cruisin'. I am paranoid as hell about my autostick and I only have 15000 miles. I won't start off on the cherokee this is about the PT. The problem with the cruiser is traction, it needs limited slip as the traction control is setting all the way through first gear. I want to go on about the Cherokee but that is not for here. ---------- 2ndsrt

It's okay. It's a DC vehicle. Tommy thrift sell an enhanced autostick tranny with limited slip. You should check it out. I would have one already if I could afford it. Probably when the stock one goes out and I am forced to replace it. When saying SRT4 be sure you include the nasty word as well...NEON! When you srt4 you get neon. When you say srt8 well you can get no less than 4. Somehow this just does not seem right the pt has the drive train just not the tag. ---------- 2ndsrt

The power to weight ratio is not good enough to get the SRT designation. I am thinking about the SRT-4 Caliber. It is sharing the same engine and chassis with the new Evolution X. Should be awesome, but without the AWD. Less pricey. ---------- Silver GT, Airaid intake, BTG exhaust, Mopar BOV, navigation and Sirius radio, Chrome accent package, Autostick, STAGE 1! So you are going to lower yourself down to the level of people who call the PT fugly? I won't lower myself and tell you exactly what I think of the looks of the PT convertible. Love the PT hardtops. I've had three and still got one. I happen to like the looks of the Neon SRT-4. It's sleek, looks mean from the front and cuts through air like a hot knife through butter. To me, Neon is not a nasty word until you have to tell your friends you got your butt handed to you by a NEON. Yes, my Neon SRT-4 is very fast. Probably have you by eight+ cars by the time I shifted to fourth. By fith gear you'd be a little speck in my mirror. ---------- 2005 Stone White SRT4 2004 Graphite Auto

Ok this is about the pt cruiser not the neon or the grand cherokee. I bought the cruiser because of they way the looked and utility. I could not do so till they came out with the turbo they were gutless. Had a stratus that would run rings around it same motor??? Gess I will just have to work harder to make pt run with the neon. Of course every thing being the same the neon will be faster because it is lighter but I will not let things be the same. It will be harder because there are more parts for the neon than the pt oh well. Gess I took that last reply as a challenge. ---------- 2ndsrt

It will be harder because there are more parts for the neon than the pt oh well. Gess I took that last reply as a challenge. There's plenty of aftermarket parts available to make your PT run faster than a Neon SRT. It's fairly easy to get upwards of 600+ whp. All it really takes is money. But speed isn't the PT's problem. To me, the PT's biggest deficiency is it's poor handling and braking. It really needs a lot of suspension reworking to make it handle and become more of a contender. It has a higher center of gravity due to it's height both at the undercarriage and to the vehicle's coupe top, and that needs to be overcome. Stiffen up the undercarriage, replace all bushings with urethane, and replace the struts & springs. You also need to shift the front side weight back enough to place the CG toward the middle of the car rather than so much of it in front of the wheels. Don't underestimate the power-to-weight ratio of the PT. It's much better than many of the cars currently out there. With the 2.4L world engine, it has unlimited potential. As Mean Green stated, the big problem for the PT, hence lack of Mopar turbo upgrade stages 2 & 3 has been the terrible auto tranny Chrysler ran with for the PT. It's like using a strip of duct tape to keep a lion's cage closed. Finally, any vehicle's effectiveness is limited only by it's operators ability to properly drive it. A race driver can take a matchbox and drive the hell out of it. Regards! ---------- Intense Blue Pearl... I have progresive sway bars and tower brace bars. 18 in wheels with 225/40 tires. as you say better shocks and struts would make this better. thanks for the comments you all have been helpful as to what next. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. I just get tired of people dumping on other cars cause they think their car is all that. I've put up with that crap owning three PT's but on the other hand most PT owners are the same way. It's a never ending circle. Now I put up with it cause I own a Neon SRT-4. But in the long run everybody's vehicle has haters so nobody has room to talk. As for the stock Jeep vs stock Neon SRT-4. No contest. Jeep is too heavy. Stock SRT Jeep vs stock Neon SRT-4 you are comparing apples to oranges. 8 vs 4 cylinders. But with the mods I have my 4 cylinder beats your 8 cylinder but who cares? There's always somebody faster out there. Just enjoy boosting your ride. ---------- 2005 Stone White SRT4 2004 Graphite Auto

Ahhhh Bruiser, the PT does NOT use the 2.4L "World" engine, the Caliber does. Same size, but the "world" engine has VVT and a little more HP in NA form. On another note, I have read that in the NA PT, they cheapened the auto tranny even more for 2007, removing one clutch disk per clutch pack. Not sure it is true, but for sure, you don't want to mod an NA if you have an auto tranny. Wish I could find out what changes were made in what year to the auto. I have heard that the early till 03 had a 5 planet carrier and in 04 that changed to a 4 planet (cheaper?). I know the beefer tranny you could buy from TommyT had the 5 planet in it. ----------

Are you going for the SRT-4 version, or are you going to buy the NA and build. The new Jeep that is built on the same chassis looks interesting too. I guess I am just from the wrong world, but I like alot of straight line low speed power and a very comfortable ride. One reason I bought the Touring Turbo-lite and added some things. The Muscle cars of the late 60's and early 70's are exactly what I like with maybe some better brakes. My AMC AMX SST in "Big Bad Green" was a great car. ----------

It's the SRT version we're going for. I want the power and better suspension. I'm not ecstatic about the Caliber's overall body style, but to my wife it beats the Pacifica (which she finds visually repugnant). Matter of fact, it's growing on me. It does remind me of a P.O.'d brutish bulldog of a Pacifica though. I generally prefer to be blown away, but the "blown away" stuff is typically over-priced. Example: 2006 Charger SRT-8. $38k??? WaaaaaaAAAAA????? That's ridiculous to me. Okay... maybe I'm just getting old and remember when $4500.00 could buy you the meanest ride around right off the showroom floor. Like you, I feel the attachment to the 60's and early 70's muscle cars. They were fast, but they drove like tanks. Great on the straight-away's, just be sure to brake a quarter mile back or you'll roll the thing at a 25MPH curve. I had a girlfriend with a rare Breedlove paint-schemed AMX. What year was that... '68 or '69? It was a screamer... so was she. My rides were all Mopars with the exception of my one and only Chevy. I wish I'd kept 2 of the lot. *sigh* Regards! ---------- Intense Blue Pearl... Mine was a '69, 390 2-4's. Was the breedlove paint job the red, white and blue one? If so, that was a standout car, of course the "Big Bad" colors were pretty loud too. Oh, the 70's......... some of those colors are coming back you know. ----------
