whitewalls Can't Post

Cheering Hi and can anyone help me with a vender list? I have chrome smoothies and would like colored whitewalls, not the tires, but a ring that slides in, I think. Fake whitewalls, I guess, I want blue ones or white if no choice. I hope you know what I mean. I saw them on a car In Bartlesville but never found the owner to ask. Thanks for your imput. Mickey Bow

I think that 'Back In The Day' they were called "Porta-walls".

Maybe CruiserRN will see your post - he seems to always have a source for any PT accessory.

Re: [Cruiser RN] whitewalls Can't Post

Mike,

I did a little looking around on Google, and I guess the portawalls were something to be used back BEFORE the days of tubeless and radial tires. Seems like there is a lot of bad press on using them on today's vehicles.

The look of the old wide-whites sure does fit in with the look of the Cruiser though...

WaveHi Larry .The look is nice but not worth the cost of the wide whitewalls in my opinion anyway.I only know that my friends had major problems when using the portawalls so I wouldn't recommend using them with this knowledge........Mike

Cheering THANKS MIKE AND LARRY, Your PM, Mike solved my problem. I know that I can remove the smoothies, paint the rims the color of Pete and get the effect I want. Keep my Bad Years for awhile. I will, of course, not be doing the painting, body shops love me! LOL, Mickey Wave

Cheering Good question Retro, I will be watching for the answer. I am going to wait with the painting I want done, till spring. We have harsh winters here. I am going to also take off my baby moons, chrome smoothies, what ever anyone calls them and put my factory hubcaps back on. Pete will be embarrassed but I do not want to ruin my moons with salt deposits. It is going to be a long winter for both of us. Mickey

I just had my new Coker American Classics put on yesterday! After finding two of my Badyears had gone egg shaped, I finally broke down and did it! The 2 inch whitewalls look fantastic! Dance Washed the car today and scrubbed the whitewalls and Armor All-ed them too, should have done this when I first got the Chrome Smoothies!

Congrats PTPenguin, on your new mod. Bet they looks great! Take a picture and post it sometime. I see also that you have an oogha horn, one of the mods on my wish list. I always honk my horn and no reaction from other PT owners here in town. For one thing, since they use their only for transportation, they really do not know what mine is, lol, so when I honk, they look all around like they have done something wrong. If I have my oogha horn, I hope I won't cause an accident or a heart attack, lol Mickey Wave

Cheering Your car looks great! I need to get new tires! I did not notice until now when I recognize the area, you live in Vegas. so does my brother. Is that Red Rocks? Do they have lots of PTC clubs in Vegas? Do you have lots of car shows? If I come to Vegas to visit, what is the name of your club as I would like to go to your meet and greet if it can be worked out. I bet it is fun and exciting living there with your vert, you lucky, and not having to worry about winter. My brother goes to Red Rocks all the time, he used to have a Mini but it got totalled, now has an Audi but loves his new BMW motorcycle, It is yellow and if you see him, tell him HI from his sis, he will be so surprised. Cool I remember wayyyyyyyyyyy back in my younger days you could buy a white rubberized paint to use on your tires. It held up pretty good and flexd with the tires. Every so often some maintenance was required tho. I don't think I would recommend going that route. At the time white walls cost a whole bunch of money.

Re: [MICKEY41] whitewalls Can't Post

That's not Red Rock, it's up in the Northwest part of town at Floyd Lamb Park. I'm not sure, but I think those are the Sheep Range Mtns. in the background. It was a beautiful day for a ride in the convertible, the high for the day was like 75! Last week it was probably 105... Who knows, next week might be 55 or 115, you never know in Vegas! If you don't like the weather, wait awhile...

I don't know much about the clubs here, the only show I've been to is the PT River Run in Laughlin. I sorta overdid the club thing when I was into Mustangs awhile back, don't know if I want to get into that scene again. I'm sort of a Lone Wolf kinda guy anyways...

Anyway, if I see your bro, I'll tell him Mickey says "Hi!"

Re: [i_like_retro] whitewalls Can't Post

Thanks! They weren't cheap, but Discount Tire gave me the price on the Coker web site so I saved about $160 there, enough to pay for one of the tires! Sheesh... After two of the "Badyears" went egg shape on me, I couldn't see spending a dime on another set of them but I needed new tires so I went for broke on the Cokers. Anyway, after seeing the final result, I'm glad I went this route, everybody really thinks they look great!

The front page has a link to direct you to PT Cruiser whitewalls, but on that page when you click on the size you want, it doesn't take you to the tire you need, you have to choose 15 or 16 inch on the left side of that screen and then find the size you need on the next page... Not a very good way to direct you, but you'll find them eventually. If you have 15 inch rims eventually you'll make it here:

http://store.coker.com/product.php?productid=695012206&cat=0&page=1

16 inch rims and you'll wind up here:

The problem with the ad-on whitewalls (if you can even find them) is they always leak around the bead. If you don't put a tube in the tire, you will have nothing but problems... been there, done that.
